New Topgolf® Competitive Show premiering last night and tonight on the Golf Channel and airing each week throughout the month of April

LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) April 10, 2018

Producing a hit TV show is no easy feat and with so much competition, the right theme song can make a huge difference.

Executive Producer Keith Allo knows this and that's why he didn't hesitate to change direction midstream for the Golf Channel's latest offering, Shotmakers. At first he was looking for something "epic, propulsive, that built to a triumphant ending" for the groundbreaking show where precision shotmaking meets intense strategy in a fast-paced format.

But after filming in Las Vegas he knew he wanted something bluesy and gritty with a tough, rock edge.

In stepped Current Music, redirecting and coming up with the perfect tune by writers Laurent Lepagneau and Alex Astier of the amazing French alternative rock band Blondstone.

The two-night premiere airs Monday, April 9 and Tuesday, April 10 at 9:00 P.M. on Golf Channel. Shotmakers will feature the fun, social experience for which Topgolf is known, featuring TopTracer which shows players their ball's flight, speed, distance and curve on screen, teams will compete for cash and prizes in each competition and will be eliminated until one team is left standing as the champion of Shotmakers.

The theme song was produced by Christian Salyer, who worked closely with the Golf Channel team every step of the way, and arranged, composed and performed by Lepagneau and Astier.
Current has become an established resource for commissioned music for the film, television, advertising, digital content and corporate communities. Current Music's creative division now has multiple theme songs on major network broadcasts, as well as sonic branding IDs, scores, songs, parodies and re-records in use throughout the world.

The nine co-ed teams include a former PGA TOUR professional, mini-tour professional golfers, an Olympian, former collegiate athletes, a former World No.1 Long Drive competitor, a trick-shot artist, decorated military veterans, and champions from the TopGolf Tour. Shotmakers will feature seven rounds of competition airing two nights a week– Monday and Tuesday nights – at 9 p.m. The series will also be distributed across Golf's international platforms, airing in more than 60 countries worldwide.

Swinerton Builders Partners with Mediaplanet to Empower Women in Construction

The Mediaplanet Women in Business campaign found within USA TODAY and online, inspiring girls and women to pursue careers in construction and manufacturing

NEW YORK (PRWEB) April 10, 2018

Swinerton believes that a strong workforce is one that is diverse and inclusive, and we know that developing teams that are diverse in experience, background, and thought has kept us on the leading edge of innovation for decades. We are committed to Fair Employment Practices, and Swinerton provides Equal Employment Opportunities for minorities, females, veterans, people with disabilities, and disabled veterans. Carrie Schaeffer, Swinerton Builders Vice President and Division Manager of Aviation says “I’ve encountered my biggest obstacles due to a hesitancy to act when faced with a challenge. When I reflect on my career, I have more regret about times that I didn’t take action than from times that I did. I regularly remind myself to have the courage to move forward.”

The construction trades have long been among the industries with the lowest percentage of gender diversity in the workforce. As of 2015, less than three percent of workers in the construction and extraction trades were women. Additionally, according to the Associated Builders and Contractors, 1.6 million new skilled workers will be needed between now and 2022. Schaeffer, says “Building construction is an intersection of technical and business challenges that can be very rewarding to solve. I was an enthusiastic student, strong in math and visualization, with good communication skills. But as a young woman, complex construction was not presented to me as a career option. I discovered it only after arriving at college and I thrived in the Building Science curriculum.”

In collaboration with the National Association of Women in Construction, we told the story of Mardi Gauer, who in her mid-forties, went back to school to get a degree in Construction Management. During this time, she worked two jobs, raised two teenagers, took eight hours of classes each semester and studied as much as time would allow. While her schedule was hectic, Mardi says the end result was quite rewarding.

The print component of “Women in Business” is distributed within USA Today in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Carolinas markets, with a circulation of approximately 250,000 copies and an estimated readership of 750,000. The digital component is distributed nationally, through a vast social media strategy, and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets. Indian boxing legend MC Mary Kom (48kg) advanced to the Commonwealth Games final with a comprehensive triumph over Sri Lanka's Anusha Dilrukshi Koddithuwak at Gold Coast in Australia on Wednesday.

It was a battle of veterans as 35-year-old Mary Kom took on the 39-year-old Dilrukshi.

Mary Kom, also a sitting Rajya Sabha MP in India, prevailed 5-0 in a dull contest where clean punches were few and far.

Despite the height advantage Koddithuwak struggled to connect for most part.

She picked up pace in the final three minutes but Mary Kom drew from her own well of experience to thwart her.

The five-time world champion and Olympic bronze-medallist Indian is competing in her maiden CWG.

Her teammate, Sarita Devi, lost to Australian Anja Stridsman in the 60kg category of women's boxing. Stridsman dominated Sarita from the get-go and in three bouts, Sarita Devi lost hopes for one more medal for Indian Boxing Team.

India at CWG 2018: Mary Kom in final, Gaurav and Vikas secure medals in boxing

The indomitable MC Mary Kom (48kg) stormed into the finals to remain well on course to claim India's first Commonwealth Games gold in women's boxing, at Gold Coast in Australia on Wednesday.

The five-time world champion and Olympic bronze-medallist defeated a defensive Anusha Dilrukshi Koddithuwak of Sri Lanka 5-0 to make the summit clash in her debut appearance at the Games.

Among the men, debutant Gaurav Solanki (52kg) made the semifinals to be assured of a medal.

"It was difficult in the sense that this girl would just not come to me. I had to be careful because she was perhaps waiting for me to let my guard down," Mary Kom said after the bout.

It was a battle of veterans between the 35-year-old Indian and the 39-year-old Koddithuwak.

Mary Kom, also a sitting Rajya Sabha MP in India, prevailed in a rather dull contest where clean punches were few and far.

Despite the height advantage Koddithuwak struggled to connect for the most part. She picked up the pace in the final three minutes but Mary Kom drew from her own wealth of experience to thwart her.

The Olympic bronze-medallist Indian will square off against Northern Ireland's Kristina O'Hara in the final. O'Hara, a carer at a nursing home in her country, defeated 19-year-old New Zealander Tasmyn Benny in the semifinals.

However, another Indian veteran L Sarita Devi (60kg) failed to secure a medal after going down to Australia's Anja Stridsman.

The former world and Asian champion Indian found the crowd favourite's power difficult to handle and was also troubled by her ill-fitting headguard.

"It was distracting and I think this other girl was very good. I could not handle the power of her punches. Besides, home turf always brings out the best in you, which was the case with her today," said the gracious-in-defeat boxer from Manipur.

In the men's draw, Army boxer Solanki dodged a tricky opponent in Papua New Guinea's Charles Keama in his quarterfinal bout.

The 21-year-old managed to evade several attempts at head-butts by his rival in a bout he eventually claimed 5-0.

"It was a risky fight. He was trying to hit me but I think my reflexes were very sharp so I managed to outwit him," he said.

Vikas Krishan has defeated Zambian Muziyo in the quarterfinal of Men's 75kg category.

Krishan tired out the Zambian in the third round after the tightly contested first two rounds. Krishan's measured punches won him the bout with the unanimous decision of 5-0.

The indomitable M C Mary Kom (48kg) stormed into the finals and was on course to deliver Indias maiden Commonwealth Games gold in womens boxing, while Vikas Krishan (75kg) along with two others entered the mens semifinals, here on Wednesday.

Five-time world champion and Olympic bronze-medallist Mary Kom defeated a defensive Anusha Dilrukshi Koddithuwakku of Sri Lanka 5-0 to make the summit clash in her debut appearance at the Games.

Among the men, the debutant duo of Gaurav Solanki (52kg) and Manish Kaushik (60kg), world bronze-medallist Vikas made the semifinals to be assured of medals.

This takes the total number of male boxers in medal rounds to eight, a 100 per cent success rate in the event and one more in number compared to their best ever show at 2010 CWG.

"It was difficult in the sense that this girl would just not come to me. I had to be careful because she was perhaps waiting for me to let my guard down," Mary Kom said after the bout.

It was a battle of veterans between the 35-year-old Indian and the 39-year-old Koddithuwakku.

Mary Kom, also a sitting Rajya Sabha MP in India, prevailed in a rather dull contest where clean punches were few and far.

Despite the height advantage Koddithuwakku struggled to connect for most part. She picked up pace in the final three minutes but Mary Kom drew from her own wealth of experience to thwart her.

The Olympic bronze-medallist Indian will square off against Northern Irelands Kristina OHara in the final. OHara, a carer at a nursing home in her country, defeated 19-year-old New Zealander Tasmyn Benny in the semifinals.

However, another Indian veteran L Sarita Devi (60kg) failed to secure a medal after going down to Australias Anja Stridsman.

The former world and Asian champion Indian found the crowd favourites power difficult to handle and was also troubled by her ill-fitting head guard.

"It was distracting and I think this other girl was very good. I could not handle the power of her punches. Besides, home turf always brings out the best in you, which was the case with her today," said the gracious-in-defeat boxer from Manipur.

In the mens draw, Army boxer Solanki dodged a tricky opponent in Papua New Guineas Charles Keama in his quarterfinal bout.

The 21-year-old managed to evade several attempts at head-butts by his rival in a bout he eventually claimed 5-0.

"It was a risky fight. He was trying to hit me but I think my reflexes were very sharp so I managed to outwit him," he said.

Joining him in the semifinals was Vikas, a former Asian Games gold-medallist, with a power-packed performance against Zambias Benny Muziyo. Vikas, who claimed a gold at the Srandja Memorial, pummelled his rival with sharp right hooks.

The Zambian looked dazed due to the ferocity of the blows he took on his face, made more severe by his poor defence.

In the evening session, the fast-rising Manish out-witted England European Championships bronze-medallist Callum Frencch to move into the semifinals and be assured of a medal.

He will be up against Northern Irelands James McGivern in his semifinal clash on Saturday.

However, last editions bronze-medallist Pinki Jangra (51kg) will be without a medal this time after losing to Englands Lisa Whiteside in her quarterfinal bout. Reported by Deccan Herald 5 hours ago.

About Iclaprim

Iclaprim is a novel investigational antibiotic that has a different and underutilised mechanism of action compared to other antibiotics. Iclaprim exhibits potent in vitro activity against Gram-positive clinical isolates of many genera of staphylococci, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Iclaprim is rapidly bactericidal, achieving 99.9% in vitro kill against MRSA within 4 to 6 hours of drug exposure versus 8 to 10 hours for vancomycin. To date, iclaprim has been studied in over 1,400 patients and healthy volunteers. In clinical studies iclaprim has been administered intravenously at a fixed dose with no dosage adjustment required in patients with renal impairment or in obese patients. The iclaprim fixed dose may, if approved, help reduce the resources required in hospitals since dosage adjustment by health care professionals is avoided and overall hospital treatment costs may be lower, especially in patients with renal impairment.

About Motif Bio

Motif Bio plc (AIM:MTFB) (NASDAQ:MTFB) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company engaged in the research and development of novel antibiotics designed to be effective against serious and life-threatening infections in hospitalised patients caused by multi-drug resistant bacteria, including MRSA. The Company’s lead product candidate, iclaprim, is being developed for high-risk MRSA patient populations. Following positive results from two Phase 3 trials (REVIVE-1 and REVIVE-2), a rolling submission of a New Drug Application (NDA) with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) has been initiated and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2018. ABSSSI is one of the most common bacterial infections, with 3.6 million patients hospitalised annually in the U.S. The Company believes that iclaprim may be suitable for first-line empiric therapy in ABSSSI patients, especially those with renal impairment, with or without diabetes. Unlike many standard of care antibiotics, iclaprim is only minimally cleared via the kidneys (
Clinical and microbiology data indicate iclaprim has a targeted Gram-positive spectrum of activity, low propensity for resistance development, fixed dose administration and favourable tolerability profile. The Company also plans to develop iclaprim for hospital acquired bacterial pneumonia (HABP), including ventilator associated bacterial pneumonia (VABP), as there is a high unmet need for new therapies in this indication.  A Phase 2 trial was conducted to study iclaprim in patients with HABP. Internet Ablaze as John Boehner Joins Marijuana Company Board

Internet Ablaze as John Boehner Joins Marijuana Company Board It’s been a weird day for Republican Speakers of the House. First, Paul Ryan decided he would not seek re-election this year. Then his predecessor, Ohio Republican John Boehner, announced that he was joining the board of a medical marijuana company.

And the internet was stoked — or is that toked? — at Boehner’s public reversal of his long-standing opposition to the legalization of marijuana. “Looks like John Boehner picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue,” joked conservative commentator John Podhoretz.

“My thinking on cannabis has evolved,” tweeted Boehner, who served as House Speaker from 2011 until his resignation from Congress in 2015. “I’m convinced de-scheduling the drug is needed so we can do research, help our veterans, and reverse the opioid epidemic ravaging our communities.”

Acreage Holdings, a multi-state cannabis company that seeks to “make cannabis available to any patient who can benefit from safe and reliable access,” on Wednesday announced that Boehner and another Republican, former Massachusetts governor William Weld, would join its board.

Needless to say, the internet was surprised by news that Boehner, a longtime cigarette smoker and fierce opponent of relaxing cannabis-related legislation, had reversed his position on the issue.

“Well color me shocked. John Boehner, who fought leagalization [sic] is now in the pot business. Loss for words,” tweeted one commenter.

Others noted that Boehner and Weld’s public support for medical marijuana moves the two Republicans to the left of many mainstream Democrats on the issue. “Bill de Blasio and Andrew Cuomo, who’ve been having a years-long pissing match over who is the True Progressive, are now to the right of John Boehner on pot,” wrote one.

Others questioned the timing of the news. “John Boehner should have waited till 4/20 to make this announcement,” tweeted one, referring to the annual day for pro-marijuana advocacy.

Marijuana will, no doubt, make some people a fortune. When I was younger I was told to "follow the money" when it came to political opinions, voting, and issues that are supported. Still true today with John Boehner. Easy to "evolve" when you're collecting a check.

--------------------

Former House Speaker John Boehner is jumping into the marijuana industry, in a move one analyst describes as "monumental" for the sector.

Boehner is joining the advisory board of Acreage Holdings, a firm that owns marijuana cultivation facilities and dispensaries in 11 US states.

"I’m joining the board of #AcreageHoldings because my thinking on cannabis has evolved. I'm convinced de-scheduling the drug is needed so we can do research, help our veterans, and reverse the opioid epidemic ravaging our communities," Boehner said in a tweet on Wednesday morning.

Bill Weld, the former Republican governor of Massachusetts, is also joining Acreage's board. Neither Boehner nor Weld made financial investments into Acreage, though Weld told Bloomberg he's considering it.

Boehner used to serve on the board of tobacco company Reynolds American Inc. His new role at Acreage, he told Bloomberg, will be to "provide advice" on how to work with local, state, and federal governments, based on his decades of experience in the political arena.

*A 'monumental event' for the US cannabis industry*

Analysts see the two senior Republicans' decision to get involved with a cannabis company — one that deals directly with the plant itself — as a positive step for the industry in the US.

"It is difficult to overstate the impact of this monumental event for the US cannabis sector," Vahan Ajamian, a cannabis-industry analyst at Beacon Securities, said in a note.

He added that Boehner's move "should send shockwaves throughout the industry," and also said that "this news should serve to 'legitimize' the sector and further perk up investor interest."

Accordingly, Ajamian said US cannabis companies could represent the next wave of "outsized returns" for investors as more states legalize adult use for medical and recreational purposes — despite the federal government's opposition. More cannabis companies with solid underlying financials are also expected to go public in the coming years.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions opposes marijuana legalization. In January, the Justice Department rescinded Obama-era protections that limited the federal government's interference with cannabis businesses.

Despite the uncertainty at the federal level, some operators in the cannabis space see the chaos as an opportunity for profits.

One of those people is Micah Tapman, a managing director at the Colorado-based company Canopy, which focuses on early-stage investments in the cannabis industry.

"When there's complexity, when there's chaos, when there's uncertainty, that's when the people who are really good at doing what they are doing stand to make really strong gains," he told Business Insider in January.

If marijuana does become legal on a national level in the US by 2030, it is likely to become a $75 billion industry by that year, according to a note from the investment bank Cowen.

Overall, the American public seems to be pro-legalization: 64% of Americans support legalizing marijuana at the federal level, according to a recent Gallup poll.
