Video Sessions can Provide Effective Therapy Treatments to Rural Veterans with PTSD

According to research being presented Thursday at the Society of Behavioral Medicine’s (SBM’s) 39th Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions, most veterans opted to receive PTSD therapy via video session rather than in person, and their symptom reduction was no different.

NEW ORLEANS (PRWEB) April 11, 2018

Most veterans opted to receive PTSD therapy via video session rather than in person, and their symptom reduction was no different, according to research from the G.V. Sonny Montgomery Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center.

The research is being presented Thursday at the Society of Behavioral Medicine’s (SBM’s) 39th Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions.

PTSD is a common mental health condition in veterans. Two psychotherapies, or ”talk therapies,” have been developed to effectively treat this condition: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy. These treatments require 12 to 16 weekly sessions to have effective results.

The VA is committed to making these treatments available to all Veterans. However, many rural veterans live in areas where there is limited access to providers trained in these treatments. To receive these treatments, veterans must travel long distances to VA clinics, making it hard for them to attend weekly appointments.

Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT) gives veterans the option of connecting with their VA provider remotely. Telehealth can be used to deliver high quality services to Veterans receiving care from community clinics or their home.

Jeanne Gabriele, Lauren Graves, and Jan Lindsay, researchers at the G.V. Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center and the VA Office of Rural Health, assessed differences in treatment outcomes based on modality. 302 Veterans receiving care from the G.V. Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center received PTSD therapy sessions in-person, through CVT to a community clinic, or through CVT to the home. To promote patient-centered care, Veterans were allowed to select their provided treatment modality and psychotherapy (CPT or PE).

Among the study’s findings:·     60% of veterans selected to receive services through CVT rather than in-person appointments. Of those receiving CVT services, 19 percent preferred CVT to the home.
·     Veterans who received eight sessions of therapy showed significant reductions in PTSD symptoms. There were no differences in PTSD symptom reduction based on service delivery preference. At the end of treatment, 58% of Veterans had final scores in the subclinical range.
·     There were differences in treatment engagement by modality with Veterans receiving services to the home having lower treatment engagement.
·     Although CVT-Home may increase access to treatment, this modality alone may not increase engagement. Providers may need to assess motivation and ability to attend sessions early in treatment and utilize motivational enhancement and problem-solving techniques to overcome barriers.

“Mississippi is a very rural and medically underserved region,” Gabriele said. “Clinical Video Telehealth gives our veterans access to high-quality mental health treatment regardless of whether they live in a small, remote town or in a larger city with an abundance of resources.”

“Many of our returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans are balancing school, work, and family responsibilities,” stated Graves. “They simply don’t have the time to travel to the VA each week.”

“Roughly half of all Veterans live in rural areas which has historically led to disparities in accessing the therapies that work,” Lindsay stated. “Integrating web and mobile platforms can allow us to extend the reach and effectiveness of evidence-based psychotherapies so we can meet Veterans where they live.”

Gabriele will present the findings Thursday at 3:45 p.m. CT during a paper session at the SBM Annual Meeting, being held in New Orleans at the Hilton Riverside New Orleans. Gabriele is an SBM member.

The Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM) is a 2,400-member organization of scientific researchers, clinicians and educators. They study interactions among behavior, biology and the environment, and translate findings into interventions that improve the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities (http://www.sbm.org).

Without a user interface, the app-less platform automates and streamlines everyday tasks for B2B sales teams via text, messenger apps and email

IRVINE, Calif. (PRWEB) April 12, 2018

SalesDirector.ai, a SaaS-based artificial intelligence (AI) sales execution and sales forecasting platform, announced the release of its AutoScribe Platform, a no-user-interface-service that leverages artificial intelligence to automate sales tasks for B2B sales teams.

AutoScribe is an AI backend service that is transparent to the sales rep and automatically updates the CRM based on non-data entry activities such as client emails, meeting events, phone calls and texts. Based on these activities, the AI platform can coach, nudge and remind sales reps via simple SMS text messages on how to stay on track of the deal and manage their sales process (Who is the Economic Buyer? Remember to identify the Decision Maker? Do they have Budget? etc.)

Field reps and mobile sales teams can interact with AutoScribe via SMS Text messaging - where it can provide just-time-coaching tips and reminders to sales reps on the road. With SalesDirector.ai's AutoScribe platform, sales organizations are no longer chained to their desks to do mundane CRM updates in Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics 365.

The AutoScribe platform can be integrated into any messaging application used by sales teams such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Salesforce.com Chatter.

Without an application user interface, AutoScribe auto-creates and associates new contacts with the right Account and with the right Opportunity. The AI-based platform enriches account details via email signature extraction and can analyze and interpolate complex selling activities into multiple divisions of large global accounts.

"Our goal is to put AI in the hands of the sales reps so that they can spend less time worrying about the process and CRM updates and more time on sales execution and the right deals said Babar Batla, CEO and Co-Founder of SalesDirector.ai. "With SalesDirector.ai AutoScribe, by simply responding to text message, a Slack channel or an email, sales teams can get the coaching they need in the field and automatically update their CRM."

SalesDirector.ai AutoScribe Key Features:· Automatic Nudges and Reminders to Reps in the Field

· Intelligently Update CRM data based on activities and text message responses

· Leverages AI to log and journal all sales rep and client interactions

· Can assist and support downstream processes such as marketing drip campaigns with the correct and latest contact information

· Ability to integrate with SMS text messaging, Slack, Chatter and others (Slack, Chatter and Microsoft Teams integrations available later in 2018)

"The just-in-time coaching tips and nudges via text message are a game-changer for our entire sales organization. The accuracy of our CRM data has exponentiated since we started using SalesDirector.ai. Our reps don’t have to worry about updating CRM to reflect their customer and prospect interactions." said Tom Patterson, COO at Digital Map Products, a leading mapping company in California. ”No need to login to Salesforce and fumble through the application to update an Opportunity.”

GRAIN: Work Agreements Blockchain Project Sets New Dates for ICO

After reaching their soft cap and postponing the public token sale due to changed regulations, Grain announces that its ICO will run from April 16th until May 7th.

CHIASSO, Switzerland (PRWEB) April 12, 2018

While originally having planned to go live on March 1st, Grain decided to postpone its public token sale after Swiss regulator FINMA announced its new guidelines for ICO’s. Although these guidelines aren’t legally binding (yet), requirements did become more stringent.

“We want to ensure that Grain is a sustainable, long-term success story and avoid potential compliance issues in the future. So we decided to be safe rather than sorry and postpone the ICO to make sure we comply with all requirements,” Onno Hektor - Grain’s CEO & President of the board - explains.

The first blockchain-based back-office solution for processing work agreements now sets out to collect the necessary funds to spread its solution across the world, after it exceeded its soft cap of 4000 ETH during the presale.

Work agreements on the blockchain

Contrary to other projects in the HR market, Grain is not a marketplace to help companies find and hire freelancers. Instead, Grain is an infrastructure solution enabling companies to process labor contracts through the blockchain and to automate payments.

By moving work agreements to the blockchain, the Grain solution helps companies remove a lot of the costs related to processing work agreements, such as payroll costs, transaction fees and currency conversion charges.

Especially with the evolution towards a dynamic workforce, a more flexible solution to organize work - Grain - will be the cornerstone to make that happen.

A strong team behind the project

Grain is founded by CEO Onno Hektor; a former senior executive for Microsoft, and board member André Bonvanie; a serial entrepreneur. Their backgrounds in building scalable sales organizations form a strong foundation for turning Grain into a great company.

They have recruited a highly experienced team of cryptocurrency professionals and business advisors to ensure the success of the platform. Not only are they joined by HR experts (including a former COO of Randstad and a senior university lecturer), Grain also has experts in IT security, insurance and other business veterans on board.

The Token Sale

During the ICO, Grain will offer 1,080,000,000 tokens, valued at 0.000037 ETH per GRAIN token (or 27000 GRAIN per 1 ETH). The minimum contribution is 0.5 ETH. Prospective investors can register their interest at the GRAIN website.

There’s also a bonus for participants contributing within the first seven days: a bonus of 10% during the first 48 hours, and 5% during the following five days.

TV veterans Phil Conserva and Louis Milito team up with Dale Wiley to create new podcast and stories, ink option to create serialized crime based on the well-known area of vice set in Illinois

ST. LOUIS (PRWEB) April 12, 2018

Veteran TV producers and directors Louis Milito and Phil Conserva found out that their friend of a decade had a story to tell. The former CSI producers and directors, now working on projects as diverse as Gotham and Training Day, discovered that their long-time friend Dale Wiley, a Missouri author and lawyer, had penned a multi-media concept based on the no-holds-barred world of the small boroughs just east of St. Louis, from Sauget to Washington Park, known as The East Side.

"We were really gripped by the drama in Dale's idea, and decided it was worth spending some time with," said Conserva, who first worked with Wiley on various environmental projects more than ten years ago. "Dale has clued me in that he saw this area as a drama that hadn't previously been told. I told him to work on the idea, and when he got back with me, he had created a whole world that actually needed more than just TV to tell the story."

To that end, Wiley started working on parts of the idea. "The story told in the podcast is an example of finding ways to tell the stories in different ways," Wiley said. "The first TV story is very visual and fits more with Phil's and my idea of playing with the idea of Dante's Inferno, set in a fictional high-end gentlemen's club, just into Illinois. But it wouldn't make a good podcast. It's too image-heavy." Instead, the podcast, which is available to subscribe to for free on Apple, Stitcher, Google Play and TuneIn, among others, looks at what seems to be a crime, told from the multiple perspectives of the participants and unraveling the nature of truth. "It seems funny to say, but these stories have elements of many influences and allusions sprinkled throughout," Wiley said. "Everything from, of course, Dante, to Gatsby, with some Kurosawa and Billy Wilder as well," This may be set in the popular clubs of The East Side, but this is a far cry from other, less meaty material."

In addition to the podcast, there is a continuing short story, the first segment available for free by going to TheEastSide.tv and following the instructions for download. It is also available at iBooks, Barnes and Noble and Smashwords for free. Reported by PRWeb 11 hours ago.

Virsec Announces Solution for Spectre & Meltdown Vulnerabilities

Virsec Trusted Execution™ Protects Existing Applications Without Changing Application Code, Patching Operating Systems, Updating Microcode or Incurring Significant Performance Degradation

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Virsec, a cybersecurity company delivering a radically new approach to protect against advanced attacks, today announced that it has extended its cybersecurity platform to protect applications from the processor-level vulnerabilities exposed by Spectre and Meltdown. The solution will be demonstrated live at next week’s RSA Conference in San Francisco. The Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities came to light in January 2018, from multiple independent security researchers. These exploits take advantage of long-standing security gaps in the world’s most widely used processors from Intel, AMD and ARM. These devices have used a performance enhancing technique known as speculative execution for over 20 years, to reduce delays associated with conditional execution of application code. Speculative execution techniques have been found to take security shortcuts that subvert isolation between security domains and can expose sensitive information via side-channel attacks.

Virsec Trusted Execution™ technology is unique in closely examining memory usage in applications to detect and stop advanced fileless attacks, such as WannaCry, NotPetya and many others. Because Virsec monitors traffic between applications and process memory it is uniquely situated and able to extend protection against microcode attacks such as Spectre and Meltdown.

The solution detects vulnerable code and proactively fences instructions to prevent side-channel exposure caused by speculative execution. Unlike other solutions that use static analysis to find vulnerable code and then require re-writes, Virsec both detects and protects code as is, in real-time. Because this is done selectively, it has negligible impact on overall performance.

“Spectre and Meltdown present huge challenges across the industry, and the solutions offered to date have required unacceptable trade-offs – recompiling code, risky microcode updates, massive hardware upgrades, and huge performance hits,” said Atiq Raza, CEO of Virsec. “Our approach is different. We assume that environments are flawed so we rigorously protect applications in real-time from the most advanced threats. Effective security needs to protect applications as they are, and not depend on future upgrades or wishful thinking.”

While some analysts have viewed these threats as being theoretical, researchers at Virsec and elsewhere have reproduced powerful versions of Spectre and Meltdown. In fact, Virsec will be demonstrating this live at RSA in an isolated environment, along with its solution for real-time protection.

Virsec will be presenting this and solutions for a wide range of advanced attacks at the RSA Conference 2018, booth 1509 (South Hall) in San Francisco’s Moscone Center, April 16-19, 2018.

*About Virsec*

Based in San Jose, California, Virsec was founded on the belief that a new model is required to counter today’s advanced cyber threats. The company is led by industry veterans who have driven one of the world’s top processor teams, and created innovative technology in network security, embedded systems and real-time memory systems. The team has broad leadership experience at companies including AMD, Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Juniper, Dell, NextGen, BMC Software, ForcePoint, as well a long list of high-growth start-ups. NeuVector 2.0 Automates Kubernetes Security Incident Detection and Response

Release enables enterprises to deploy Kubernetes with confidence by automating security and adding protection from new threat vectors

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NeuVector, the leader in Kubernetes security delivering the first and only multi-vector container firewall, today announced NeuVector 2.0. The enhanced security solution further protects Kubernetes environments by building on the unique NeuVector run-time security automation, which combines east-west traffic visibility with container process monitoring and vulnerability scanning. NeuVector 2.0 adds important new capabilities that include a Kubernetes incident response system alongside advanced process and file system protections to secure against new attack vectors.NeuVector 2.0 will be available for demo at RSA Conference 2018 in San Francisco, April 16-20 (booth #4910).

Enterprises require fast and decisive responses when security incidents and potential attacks occur within Kubernetes deployments. NeuVector 2.0 deploys within an organization’s existing security processes to rapidly address and mitigate ongoing container threats. When NeuVector detects threats and vulnerabilities, the new auto-response rules – built to address common container attacks and security alerts – instantly provide response actions to protect containers and generate alerts. These rules can also be customized to match criteria such as specific container vulnerability profiles, or set to address suspicious activity across multiple threat vectors – including the container network, processes, or file system. NeuVector 2.0 provides a unique range of incident responses, with full capabilities to quarantine compromised containers, generate custom notifications, and whitelist non-critical events. Using NeuVector 2.0, enterprises can fully address container security events and protect their applications, container services, and infrastructure from multi-vector attacks.

NeuVector 2.0 also adds new automated protections that detect exploits within containers, such as suspicious processes or file system activities. The security solution automatically calculates a baseline of container processes, whitelists legitimate activity, and alerts on any deviation from the baseline. Any installation of malicious packages, libraries, or new executables – or any modification to sensitive files – triggers NeuVector to scan the container for vulnerabilities and alert on the suspicious activity. These automatic protections do not require configuration but do allow for easy customization of whitelist/blacklist rules as desired. The new capabilities bolster NeuVector’s multi-vector firewall by adding deeper insights into activities within Kubernetes deployments, further safeguarding containers from process and file system attack vectors.

“The highly dynamic nature of Kubernetes environments makes robust and responsive threat automation a critical requirement to enterprise security,” said Fei Huang, CEO, NeuVector. “The release of NeuVector 2.0 offers rapid detection and response that addresses security threats as they occur, while protecting systems from process and file system-based attacks. We focus on continually automating the real-time security of Kubernetes deployments for enterprises using our solution.”

*About NeuVector*

NeuVector is the leader in Kubernetes security and delivers the first and only multi-vector container firewall – which enables the confident deployment of enterprise-wide container strategies across multi-cloud and on-prem environments. NeuVector provides east-west container traffic visibility, container protection, and host security in a highly integrated, automated security solution. Customers include global leaders in financial services, healthcare and publishing, and the company is partners with AWS, Docker, IBM, Rancher, Red Hat, and others. Founded by industry veterans from Fortinet, VMware, and Trend Micro, NeuVector has developed patent-pending behavioral learning for container security.

Over 100 Low-Income Individuals Received Free Dental Services in the Burleson, Texas area

BURLESON, Texas (PRWEB) April 12, 2018

Monarch Dental has set a new record for the Smiles for Everyone Foundation’s Days of Giving. With providers and support staff from multiple Monarch Dental offices in the Dallas-Fort Worth area volunteering their time this past Saturday, the team was able to provide free dental care for 108 low-income individuals in the community. The cleanings, fillings, extractions and various other services received that day amounted to over $120,000 in donated dentistry.

Smiles for Everyone Foundation and Monarch Dental partnered with local non-profit organizations to refer individuals to the free dental day. Many patients came from SafeHaven, a support organization for victims of domestic violence; Harvesting International, a local ministry and food pantry; and Alliance for Children, a non-profit with the mission to protect children from abuse.

One patient was so grateful for the services they received that they wanted to thank the providers in any way they could. With only $30 in their pocket, they told the doctor that it was all they could give, but insisted that the provider take it. The money was then donated to the Smiles for Everyone Foundation to help provide further dental care for additional people in need.

Patients checking out expressed their overwhelming gratitude for the services provided. Many had not seen a dentist in over a decade and were so thankful to hear about the event in their community.

Smiles for Everyone Foundation has three more Days of Giving planned for Texas in 2018. They will be in San Antonio, Houston, and Austin in the months of June, July, and September, respectively. Please check back on http://www.smilesforeveryone.org for more information. The next Day of Giving will be in honor of our veterans. On April 21, the Foundation will welcome veterans and their dependents in the Olympia, WA, community to receive dental care free of charge at the Bright Now! Dental office on Martin Way. Please visit the Smiles for Everyone Foundation’s website for more information.

Meet the traders, investors, and technologists pioneering crypto on Wall Street

Meet the traders, investors, and technologists pioneering crypto on Wall Street This hasn't been an easy year for cryptocurrency enthusiasts.

Bitcoin, the largest crypto, is down more than 70% from its all-time highs set at the end of 2017, as regulators look to clamp down on exchanges and tech companies shun advertisements related to the nascent digital coin market.

But Wall Street's enthusiasm for crypto has not been dampened.

Trading, technology, and asset management executives are leaning in on digital assets and working on projects that could bring them front and center in mainstream financial services.

Business Insider reached out to market participants to identify those at the intersection of financial services and digital assets who are building indexes, launching funds, and trading billions.

We came across many talented people, and this list of 36 people is by no means comprehensive. They work at household names like CME Group, Fidelity, and BNY Mellon, and crypto power players like Coinbase, Kraken, and Cumberland. Their roles range in scope, covering research, trading infrastructure, and investing.

But they all have left their mark on the new market.

-Toby Allen, Akuna Capital-

The news that Cboe Global Markets was going to launch a futures market for bitcoin was a landmark moment for the trading firm Akuna Capital.

That's when it started directing resources toward crypto trading. Today the company, which has traditionally made markets in currencies and energy futures, trades bitcoin futures. It is also trading spot bitcoin in the $1 million to $5 million range. It trades bitcoin options through LedgerX, a US cryptocurrency options exchange.

Toby Allen leads a team of three folks in Sydney who are trading across all of those markets.

Allen, a partner at the firm, joined Akuna in 2012 from Optiver, where he was a trader from 2008 to 2012. The Australia-native started his career as an analyst at JT Campbell & Co.-Spencer Bogart, Blockchain Capital-

Spencer Bogart was one of the first Wall Street analysts to cover bitcoin and the world of blockchain as an equity research analyst at Needham & Co.

He joined Blockchain Capital, one of the oldest VC firms dedicated to investing in projects in the crypto market, in February 2017.

Blockchain Capital manages $250 million across a number of funds, having invested in a number of decentralized crypto exchanges and Bitwise, the crypto asset manager, as well as other companies spanning the crypto market. Recently, the firm has been spending a lot of time exploring opportunities in decentralized crypto exchanges.-Max Boonen, B2C2-

When Max Boonen, a former trader at Goldman Sachs, founded B2C2, he aspired to build a Wall Street-like company for bitcoin.

Those aspirations have been reflected in the team it has built and the advisers it has brought on. The company, which sometimes conducts trades larger than $50 million, recently brought on three finance veterans to its advisory board, including Citigroup's global head of regulatory, market, and innovation strategy.

B2C2 recently expanded into Asia markets via a new desk in Japan, Business Insider previously reported. Further expansion of its business in Asia is a big focus for 2018.

The company is also getting ready to launch contracts for difference, a financial product that allows investors to bet on bitcoin price swings. The company hopes the product, which is in final testing, will bring in brokerage clients.
