PUBLIC and voluntary sector organisations must work together more closely to address the housing needs of vulnerable veterans, Housing Minister Carl Sargeant has said.
Speaking ahead of Armed Forces Day at a event bringing together stakeholders working to address the housing needs of veterans, he said he was determined to do all he could to meet the housing needs of veterans in Wales.
"A decent home is the starting point for everyone in building a healthy and fulfilled life," Mr Sargeant said. "This is especially true for veterans, some of whom experience long term problems in finding and keeping a home after they have been discharged.
"Many of those who have served their country in the armed forces struggle to cope with civilian life and are vulnerable."
He added: "It is vital that local authorities work with the voluntary sector and the armed forces welfare services to prevent homelessness wherever they can. Only by working together more smartly will we make best use of our limited resources." Reported by This is 22 hours ago.
