Holland top of the pile at Woodbury Park

This is Exeter -- Woodbury Park JIM Holland led the way in the fourth round of the seniors' winter eclectic last week with a score of 39 points. That put him three points clear of Tony Marshall (36) in second, with Alan Stone third on 33. Division two was won by Ray Dwan with 40 points, with Rob Hayman second (39) and Austin Barrett third (37). EXETER G&CC Jenny Paddon was the overall winner from a field of 33 ladies in the nine-hole stableford competition on Tuesday. She scored 20 points to put her clear of Annie Norman and Alison Crooks in second and third – both of whom also scored 20. Results, division 1: 1st Jennifer Paddon 20pts, 2 Annie Norman 20, 3 Elsa Gent 20. Division 2: 1 Jenny Pullen 19, 2 Jill Searle 16, 3 Jane Vlietstra 14. Division 3: 1 Alison Crooks 20, 2 Barbara Shire 17, Ann Willett 17 TIVERTON Club captain John Sampson and partner Dave Milton will meet Simon Legassick and Les Jones in the quarter-final stage of the rain-hit winter foursomes. Sampson and Milton beat Nick Conabeare and David Wright in the second round, while Legassick and Jones knocked out Roy Ireland and Cliff Hagley. In the first round, veterans Gerry Franklin and Ron Stonebridge beat Nick Konig and Ricky Hall while Patrick Ellis and Adrian Tyrrell also came through against Steve Lucas and Nick Lear.
