Patch Northborough, MA --Grafton, Shrewsbury and Northborough residents needing veterans’ assistance will meet George Perry III soon.
Westborough’s veterans agent/director of veterans services will serve as district director of the four towns’ new Central Massachusetts Veterans Services District starting July 1.
Perry said Wednesday he wants to interview each client, who could be a veteran or their spouse, “because it’s the beginning of the fiscal year, and I have to submit all of the paperwork.”
Perry also will work in each town one day each week, and in Westborough’s Forbes Municipal Building otherwise.
The Westborough office will serve as the central location for voicemail and e-mail, he said. The phone number is 508-366-3085.
Perry said two part-time veterans agents working no more than 17 hours per week each will assist him.
Westborough Assistant Veterans Agent Kenneth Ferreira will be one of them, Perry said.
Perry anticipates hiring the second agent shortly. He said he will discuss scheduling with the two agents.
Perry said he will meet with Northborough officials on Monday and Grafton officials on Tuesday.
“Each town processes things differently,” he explained.
“How do they process the payments, who do I give them to? And I need to meet the clients.” Reported by Patch 6 hours ago.
