Cliffside Malibu Treatment Center will soon offer addiction treatment services to veterans and active members of the military.
Malibu, CA (PRWEB) June 25, 2013
As substance abuse rates among military veterans and active duty personnel skyrocket, help is coming from an unexpected source. The exclusive Cliffside Malibu treatment center is soon to provide services to help military veterans heal. “We have roughly a 95% success rate with people who complete all three phases of our treatment program and almost a 70% success rate total, which includes people who leave before they are ready,” said Richard Taite, founder of Cliffside Malibu. “There are many reasons to help our military veterans. It is my passion to be involved in that process.”
“The scope of the problem is tremendous,” says Constance Scharff, PhD, Cliffside’s full time addiction researcher and coauthor with Richard Taite the of Amazon.com #1 bestselling book, Ending Addiction for Good on addiction treatment. “According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), prescription drug abuse doubled among veterans from 2005-2008. Twenty-seven percent of veterans met the criteria for alcohol abuse 3-4 months post deployment, yet few are referred for alcohol treatment. Alcohol or drugs are present in at least a third of military suicides. This population needs help.”
Taite expounds on the reasons to assist military veterans. “It’s better for our economic health if you have a healthy, contributing member of society, paying taxes and taking care of his family as opposed to being on public support. It’s also a national security issue, because at some point, military recruitment will decline if there is not a way to fix the damage done by war. The sad part is, this is easily fixable; the science and our experience tell us so.”
“In the research we have done,” said Dr. Scharff, “We have developed a multi-layered approach to addiction recovery that is holistic, individualized and effective. We get great results at Cliffside Malibu because we use a combination of psychology, neuroscience, medicine, and complimentary therapies. This is a perfect formula to help veterans overcome the trauma of war.”
“We’re about to open an affordable drug treatment center to test those results against our current ones. I have no doubt they will be comparable, in part because our model is particularly well-designed and proven to support the treatment of and recovery from PTSD. It is my dream to develop a protocol that serves these heroic men and women and my country,” said Taite, “and I believe we have done just that.”
