Adventure industry veterans Chris Chesak and Sally Grimes sign on with their family for 2014 departure of Costa Rica Rainforest Adventure for Families.

Ann Arbor, MI (PRWEB) March 06, 2014

Journeys International’s Costa Rica Rainforest Adventure for Families is the adventure travel industry’s only international summer camp for families. It offers all the amenities of a stay at a boutique hotel, with all the advantages of a multi-generational summer camp. Families settle in and stay a whole week at a family-run lodge in Costa Rica’s Sarapiqui Rainforest. There’s no need to pack up every two days, because the lodge is ideally located near numerous parks and activity centers. The itinerary appeals to varied interests and ages by offering lots of options.

Looking back on five years of this unique program, Journeys President Robin Weber Pollak reflects on the reasons for its success. “The itinerary is easy enough for families with young children because it's so flexible, and doesn’t require long drives and lots of different hotels. Yet more adventurous older children love the thrills of activities like white water rafting and zip-lining. Parents are perhaps most appreciative of how educational family camp is," Pollak comments, “and grandparents love watching their grandkids’ delight without having to come up with the entertainment themselves.” Pollak also notes, “This trip is completely hands on. Your kids will visit a local school, learn how to make chocolate, and encounter hundreds of kinds of wildlife."

This July’s departure offers a special draw with featured group leaders Chris Chesak and Sally Grimes. Chesak is the Executive Vice President – North America/Oceania for the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), and Sally Grimes is President of Benchmark Outdoor Outfitters. They will bring their daughters Lillian (9) and Sylvia (7) along.

"Chris and Sally have such enthusiasm for this trip," says Pollak. "With their combined 40 years of experience in the outdoor industry, they will bring interesting perspective to the group. And they’re thrilled to take their daughters on their first international family adventure!"

Costa Rica Rainforest Adventure for Families starts at $2,275 adult / $1,275 child. Read more about the family camp philosophy on the Journeys Blog.
