From Barbara Otto, CEO of Chicago-based Health & Disability Advocates
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) March 26, 2014
Health & Disability Advocates, a national policy and advocacy group headquartered in Chicago, supports Governor Pat Quinn’s proposal for comprehensive tax reform to stabilize the state’s budget. HDA’s CEO, Barbara Otto, had the following comments on the Governor’s budget address:
“HDA lauds the Governor’s approach to comprehensive tax reform to address the state’s fiscal challenges. Illinois has made a $5.7 billion cut in spending – and spending cuts and increased revenue have helped the state make progress on debt, and our payment cycle has gone from 180 days to 30 days for providers of critical social services. Now is the time for investing in Illinois’ most important resource – its people.
HDA supports Governor Quinn’s proposal for comprehensive tax reform to ensure the state can make strategic investments in critical priorities for economic growth - early childhood learning, K-12 education, and job training. We also support the state’s continued investment in rebalancing the state’s investments in community-based long-term care services for older adults and persons with disabilities.”
Health & Disability Advocates (HDA) is a leader in high-impact public policy, technical assistance, and training, focusing on building capacity and changing systems to help programs and services work smarter and better. HDA has a 20-year history of working with vulnerable populations both in Illinois and throughout the nation. We focus our efforts on the near-poor and the working poor at the intersection of economic and health care security. HDA has three main program areas: Access to Health, Veterans Programs, and Disability Employment. Reported by PRWeb 9 hours ago.
