The DoD Troops to Teachers program assists military veterans who want to start a new career as teachers in America’s K-12 public schools, and PrepForward announces a 50% discount for them on all courses to help with certification preparation.

Wayland, MA (PRWEB) April 09, 2014

Troops to Teachers (TTT) is a U.S. Department of Defense program that helps eligible military personnel begin new careers as teachers in K-12 public schools and public charter schools where their skills, knowledge and experience are needed most. PrepForward, a leader in online teacher preparation, will offer these military veterans a 50% discount on all courses to help them prepare for licensing exams and success in the classroom.

“Our program participants can contribute greatly to the success of K-12 education across America,” said Troy Gipps, Coordinator of the Troops to Teachers program in New England. “We are happy that PrepForward is offering a discounted rate on the help some may need to get up to speed on the core academic skills required to pass licensing exams.”

TTT places special emphasis on cultivating teachers of critical core subjects such as math and science, as well as special education, foreign language, and career-technical fields where the need for qualified staff is typically much larger than the available pool of workers. These future educators are in a position to fill key positions in school districts across the United States.

However, the transition from military service to civilian employment can be challenging for many veterans. Many otherwise qualified candidates may need review or remedial assistance in core subjects such as math, reading, writing, and language arts. To help ease that transition and give these teacher candidates the skills and confidence to excel in a new field, PrepForward is offering access to their self-paced, online courses at a 50% discount.

“Troops to Teacher program participants have already done so much to serve our country,” says Mary Stephens, CEO of PrepForward. “If they want to continue doing so in a different capacity, by taking on the critical job of public educator, we want to help them get into the classroom.”

PrepForward offers self-paced, online review courses for math, reading, writing, language arts, and effectively teaching all students in inclusive classrooms. These courses feature targeted lessons, interactive exercises, detailed explanations, rich diagnostic data, and expert instructor support.
