The workshops, which will take place in San Diego and Sacramento, will educate transitioning service members and veterans about opening a small business.
San Diego and Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) July 16, 2013
In a move to assist military veterans and transitioning service men and women wishing to work for themselves, My Agency Career, State Farm Insurance’s West Coast recruiting agency, is hosting two workshops to educate military attendees about the mechanics of opening a small business.
The free workshops will take place a week apart in the northern and southern regions of the state to cater to service members and veterans across the state.
The first workshop will be in Sacramento on Thursday, July 18, at 9 a.m.
The second will be in San Diego a week later on Thursday, July 25, also at 9 a.m.
Both workshops will feature a number of panelists, including State Farm recruiters April Pruitt and Hilton Williams, each of whom have helped numerous entrepreneurs take the step to open their own business through My Agency Career.
Topics discussed at each workshop will include business planning, how to obtain financing, and how to market and brand a new business. The main topics of the seminar are:
· Understanding Self
· What Kind of Business
· Business Planning
· Market Research and Analysis
· Economics of Business
· Marketing
· Management and the Team
· Financing
Additional focus will be emphasized on how to translate military skills into successful business ownership -- an important component of transitioning from military life to civilian life, and one that is often under-addressed.
As starting your own business is a decision and a project that involves the whole family, spouses are also welcome to attend the workshop.
"We take our commitment to our communities in which we live and work very seriously … Becoming a State Farm agent requires careful consideration; after all, you're investing in yourself,” said Tom Conley, Senior Vice President for State Farm Insurance in California.
For those interested in attending this free event, please check the San Diego Workshop and Sacramento Workshop EventBrite pages for details about registration. This event is open to all those with DD214 or current military IDs.
