About 20 veterans and the mayor of Brentwood proudly congregated at Chapel Ruins in Brentwood this morning (June 28) to mark Armed Forces Day. The service, conducted by The Rev'd Dr Guy Sumpter, saw the group sing hymns, the national anthem and pray in commemoration. Essex Regiment veteran Peter Scott, 80, of Brentwood, said: "The service today was very good, excellent. "The mayoress was here and she did an excellent reading."
