Veteran Helps Veteran Raise Flag over New Home in Dedication Ceremony
Maryville, Tenn. (PRWEB) July 04, 2014
While looking for an affordable, quality home, disabled veteran Luis Alvarez and his wife found help at a Clayton Home Center from a fellow disabled veteran. Home Consultant Doug “Sarge” Linebaugh understood Luis’ situation from his own personal experience in the military and was able to help the Alvarez family find their dream home.
“Right away, I hit it off with Luis and Maria,” Linebaugh said. “We were able to connect on a personal level, since I am also a disabled veteran.”
However, the Alvarez-Linebaugh relationship didn’t end with the signing of a purchase agreement. Luis asked Doug to be a guest of honor at a special dedication ceremony.
“The Alvarez family became very dear friends to me,” Linebaugh said. “After they moved into their home, they erected a flag pole in their front yard and invited me to a dedication for Luis’s fallen friends. They asked me to come in military uniform to raise the flag. It was an honor to be included in the Alvarez family’s ceremony."
The Alvarezes dedicated the flag pole to Luis’s seven friends who were killed while serving in Iraq. Luis’s brother and friend, also veterans, were present for the dedication, along with many family and friends. Clayton Homes and Linebaugh continue to carry out the mission of helping American families from all walks of life experience the joy that comes with home ownership.
