Veteran-led disaster group to manage response for devastated city.

Pateros, WA (PRWEB) July 26, 2014

Team Rubicon, a veteran-led disaster relief organization, has launched Operation: Humble Trooper to support residents of Pateros, Wash., following wildfires that destroyed dozens of homes.

At the request of local officials, Team Rubicon has deployed a National Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT) to manage debris removal, spontaneous volunteers, and in-kind donations on behalf of the city. The second task will be to deploy TR strike teams to assist local residents with debris removal, property cleanup and recovery of personal property.

Additionally, the response will be the first to employ a 53-foot mobile command center that was recently outfitted and donated to Team Rubicon by Tyson Foods.

Team Rubicon unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to perform these vital services. Beyond disaster relief, Team Rubicon helps veterans find a renewed sense of purpose—vital as many return to civilian life after more than a decade of war.

The nonprofit was founded in the wake of the 2010 Haiti Earthquake by Jake Wood and William McNulty, both Marine veterans. It has grown from eight to 16,000 members with more than 65 operations under its belt, including Haiti, Superstorm Sandy, and Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

It’s been a busy year for Team Rubicon, with responses to tornadoes, floods and damaging storms across the country, and is accepting financial contributions for its response. To learn more about Team Rubicon’s mission, or to become a supporter, visit http://teamrubiconusa.org.
