The Nashua Company Raised Money at NH Fisher Cats Game and Matched Attendee Donations
Nashua, NH (PRWEB) July 30, 2013
Senior Financial Resources of Nashua made a donation of $1,100 last week to Veterans Count New Hampshire, a program of Easter Seals that provides direct financial support to military families. The donation was part of an event held during last week’s New Hampshire Fisher Cats game against the Harrisburg Senators.
Thom Brueckner, owner and president of Senior Financial Resources, is a board member of Veteran’s Count. He and Leon Simoneau, the firm’s senior associate, invited clients and guests from across the state to the summer social to partake in some summer fun and raise money for a noble cause. Attendees enjoyed behind-the-scenes tours of the park, a barbeque buffet and watched the game from a private party deck and luxury suites.
“I can’t think of a more worthy and noble cause than supporting the men, women and families who work, both at home and abroad, to protect the freedoms we each enjoy every day,” Brueckner said. “We had a wonderful evening with the NH Fisher Cats and were able to raise money and awareness of the good work this organization does.”
The evening raised not only funds, but also awareness of the organization’s mission. Veterans Count board members staffed an information table behind home plate, where they engaged with game attendees. Sy Mahfuz, owner of Persian Rug Gallery in Nashua, and Harry Miller, Executive Director of Veterans Services for Easter Seals, joined Brueckner and NH Fisher Cats broadcast staff for a 20-minute radio interview, which could be heard by baseball fans statewide. Miller also threw out the night’s first pitch
Launched in 2007 by Easter Seals of NH, Veteran’s Count is a membership organization in which dues and other contributions provide direct financial support to military families that includes, but is not limited to: transportation, housing, rent, fuel assistance, utilities, vehicle repair, gasoline, food, child care, tuition and medical. Professional Care Coordinators currently manage more than 300 individual cases. Since 2007, more than 2,200 families have been served.
“Senior Financial Resources is proud to have worked to raise awareness of and provide financial support to this important organization,” Brueckner said. “On top of that, the game ended with a great finish: Down 3-2 in the bottom of the 8th inning, one of the Cats players hit a solo homer to tie it. The very next hitter then hit a hard drive to center field which, after two Senators’ errors, resulted in a game-winning inside-the-park home run courtesy of a just-missed tag at home plate!”
