VA-certified experts will advise Veterans on how to obtain and best utilize military Veteran education benefits at free, interactive webinars Tuesday, August 20, conducted by Bellevue University.
Omaha, NE (PRWEB) August 16, 2013
Bellevue University announced today the availability of two interactive webinars developed specially for Veterans. The webinars entitled, “Get the Most From What You’ve Earned: How Your Military Veteran Education Benefits Can Serve You,” will be held Tuesday, August 20 at 11 AM and 1 PM (CDT). Participants may attend a local town hall setting on the campus in Bellevue, Nebraska, or by website link.
The free sessions are facilitated by experts who have worked with Veterans for years, and who know the Veterans education bill – often perceived as complicated and the first hurdle to accessing the benefits they’re entitled to. In addition to being taken through key points on how to decipher the bill and access benefits, Veterans can ask questions in real-time and interact with the specialists.
“Education is key to career enhancement and growth,” said Michael E. Echols, Ph.D., Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for Bellevue University. “Veterans possess skills that are needed in America’s companies today, but they oftentimes need the education – the degree – to put it all together for employers. Our goal is to help our nation’s Veterans weed through the education bill’s benefits so they can access all that is there for them.”
According to the National Education Association, “student Veterans are one of America’s greatest untapped human resources.” Because of their military experience and training, Veterans are self-sufficient, emotionally mature, and experienced leaders. Student Veterans have the potential to become some of America’s strongest and most goal-driven leaders.
“Veterans are in a great position to fill career openings—especially the ones that stage for leadership,” Echols said. “But, in most cases, qualifying for a leadership position means the need for education or a degree. Degrees pay off.”
The Bellevue University subject matter experts facilitating the online sessions include Toni Myre, Military Benefits Program Manager in VA Education Benefits, Joannie Harmon, and Jennifer Grossnicklaus. Specifically, Veterans can learn how to maximize their benefits, what they are entitled to, what options work best for them, and more, including who qualifies, how to receive benefit funds, how time limits work, and how to use stipends.
The session facilitators will also discuss the Veteran Support Services available through Bellevue University’s Veterans Initiative for Advancement (VIA). Included in these services is the free Degree Accelerator, a way for Veterans to identify their best career paths and leverage the experience and learning they already have from their military service.
