Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi won't be deposed by attorneys representing almost 60 defendants charged with running a veterans' charity that prosecutors say served as a front for a gambling operation.
A Seminole County judge's order earlier this month blocked defense attorneys' efforts to depose Bondi.
Judge Kenneth Lester's order is among a series of orders and motions filed this month in anticipation of the start of trial in mid-September for some of the defendants.
Former Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll resigned earlier this year after she was interviewed as part of the probe into Allied Veterans. She denies wrongdoing and hasn't been charged with a crime.
Other Florida politicians are on defense witness lists, including Gov. Rick Scott and Agricultural Secretary Adam Putnam.
The defendants say they did nothing wrong. Reported by Click Orlando 9 hours ago.
