San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 18, 2013
The Farmer Veteran Coalition (FVC) proudly presents the 2nd Annual “Empowering Women Veterans: Success in Agriculture Business and Well-Being” conference. The conference is focused on equipping women veterans with the business and farming tools they need to begin and achieve their entrepreneurial goals.
Registration is now open for this free conference. It will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Louisville, Kentucky from 8:00 am on Thursday, November 14 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 17, 2013.
“We are so pleased to have the conference in Kentucky this year,” said Tia Christopher, conference organizer and FVC chief of staff. “Not only is the state doing amazing things for veterans in agriculture, but there are really impressive women farmer role models and mentors too.”
This conference will bring together over 100 women from around the country to make friends, build community, and gain valuable resources that will help them to succeed in small business.
Workshops and general sessions will feature a panel from the USDA, inspiring women business leaders and topics such as: aquaponics, writing grants and farming and social justice; and will feature speakers from the American Farm Bureau, Kentucky State University, the USDA, AgrAbility and many more.
There will also be an exclusive sneak preview of the documentary film Terra Firma, about three female combat veterans who have found ways to heal through farming.
FVC will host this conference in coordination with the Farm Credit Council, the American Farm Bureau, Newman’s Own Foundation, the Tyler Rigg Foundation, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Growing Warriors, and Terra Firma.
