Military Times esteemed rankings based on academic excellence, affordability, and military and veterans services.
Flagstaff, Arizona (PRWEB) November 12, 2013
Northern Arizona University (NAU) is honored to announce that Military Times has named the institution among its Best for Vets: Colleges 2014 rankings.
Military Times ranks NAU as the top school for veterans in the Southwest (Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah) as well as among the top one-third of colleges and universities nationally.
“It is a true honor for NAU to be named by Military Times as one of the best colleges for veterans,” said Dr. Fred Hurst, senior vice president of NAU-Extended Campuses. “Our veterans have served our country with honor and NAU is committed to showing them that same commitment. It is a task we take very seriously and one we will continue to improve as we expand our military and veterans services. Our goal is not to be just be one of the best schools for veterans, it is to be the very best university for active duty military and veteran students.”
Military Times, which is comprised of Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times, placed a new emphasis on academic rigor this year when compiling its Best for Vets: Colleges rankings.
“As with all of the Best for Vets rankings, Best for Vets: Colleges is an editorially independent news project that evaluates the many factors that make an institution a good fit for military veterans,” Amanda Miller, editor of Military Times EDGE, said in a statement.
According to the Military Times statement, other factors that contributed to NAU’s inclusion in the Best for Vets: Colleges 2014 rankings were service member enrollment, percentage of tuition covered by the GI Bill, service member programs, student loan default rates, student retention and graduation rates, and student-faculty ratio.
The complete Best for Vets rankings can be found on newsstands in the Nov. 11 edition of Military Times as well as online at http://www.militarytimes.com.
