Patch River Dell, NJ --
The following announcement was submitted by the Puffin Cultural Forum:
The 40th anniversary celebration of the publication of “Winning Hearts & Minds: War Poems by Vietnam Veterans,” includes three very special events.
First, from 4-6 p.m., Warrior Writer coordinators conduct a writing workshop for active duty service members, veterans and military family members. Then, at 7:00 p.m. "Scars and Stitches," a Combat Paper art show by military veterans and family members, will be unveiled. Representatives from the Combat Paper project will be on hand to discuss the work and its significance. The exhibition will be displayed throughout July.
The main event, following the art opening, will be a performance by WHAM poets Jan Barry and W.D. Ehrhart; Gerald McCarthy and Peter Mahoney, contributors to “Demilitarized Zones,” the 1976 sequel; Vietnam vet poets Allen Hinman, Jim Murphy, Walt Nygard, Dayl Wise and Walter Zimmerman; Warrior Writers Nicole Goodwin, Sarah Mess, Jennifer Pacanowski and Eli Wright, a Combat Paper NJ coordinator; plus poet Alison Koffler, singer and songwriter Tamra Hayden and Warrior Writers NYC music coordinator Raymond Daniel Medina. $10 suggested donation.
Proceeds benefit the Warrior Writers program, a veteran-focused arts organization that fosters artistic exploration to encourage and support healing and community building.
