Albertsons Companies Pharmacies Now Offer Shingrix®, a New and More Effective Shingles Vaccine

$

0
BOISE, Idaho, Feb. 01, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A new and more effective herpes zoster (shingles) vaccine, Shingrix®, is now available in all Albertsons Companies pharmacies across the United States.

Shingrix® was recently approved by the FDA and released to the public as a more effective vaccine for shingles, which is a reactivation of the chicken pox that shows up as a painful skin rash. Shingrix® is over 93% effective, compared to its predecessor Zostavax®, which was considered only 65% effective. It is also recommended for a wider range of adults, beginning at age 50, rather than Zostavax®, which was only recommended for those 60 and older.

1 in 3 people will get shingles in their lifetime, so it is recommended that anyone who is 50 and older, regardless of prior Zostavax® vaccination, receive Shingrix® to prevent getting shingles. Some people may be advised to wait up to 5 years after getting Zostavax® to get Shingrix®. The vaccine is especially important because as people age, their immune system weakens, leaving them more susceptible to shingles. Even healthy, active people can get shingles.

Those ages 50 and up are asked to speak with their pharmacist or healthcare professional about this vaccine.

Hemp, Inc. Reports: Indiana House of Representatives Votes Unanimously to Grow Industrial Hemp

$

0
Spring Hope, NC., Feb. 01, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hemp, Inc. (OTC PINK: HEMP) executives updated its shareholders today that Indiana House voted unanimously yesterday for a bill that would allow Hoosier farmers to grow industrial hemp. According to the Indiana General Assembly, House Bill 1137, “authorizes the Indiana state department of agriculture (department) to establish an agricultural pilot program to study the growth, cultivation, and marketing of industrial hemp and industrial hemp products. Provides that the agricultural pilot programs administered by the department and the state seed commissioner are separate programs… provides that a person who complies with the requirements of the state industrial hemp law is not subject to any civil action or criminal proceeding for engaging in an activity allowed under the state industrial hemp law.”

According to the news source IndyStar.com, part of the USA Today Network, under Representative Jim Lucas' House Bill 1137, “acres of the green leafy plants could be intermingled with rows of corn across family farms in Indiana. Currently, only researchers at institutions are allowed to grow the plant and are unable to do so for commercial purposes. Only Purdue University researchers are growing the product in the state.  The provision could see some pushback in the Senate, or from individuals like Attorney General Curtis Hill, who has been outspoken against marijuana legalization.”  To read the full article, click here.

Bruce Perlowin, CEO of Hemp, Inc. (OTC PINK: HEMP), said, "Indiana’s unanimous vote underscores the fact that the visionary mindset of Hemp, Inc. is way ahead of the curve as each state, one after another, relentlessly legalizes industrial hemp, thus giving Hemp, Inc. a huge jump in the industry. As far as processing industrial hemp in the US goes, there’s nobody even in second place.”  Perlowin continued, “And just look at the industry backlash from U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ decision to rescind the Cole Memo – a 2013 Department of Justice document – which increased some legal protections for businesses operating in states that allow and regulate cannabis sales.  That decision is an incredible opportunity for the hemp industry because hemp is the safe bet and a safe haven for those wanting to invest in the cannabis industry.”

Perlowin drove home that “hemp’s legal status has nothing to do with Sessions’ announcement.”  It’s important to note that hemp production “has been enshrined into law by Congress through the 2014 Farm Bill.”  This means “the Department of Justice can’t go after hemp growers or processors abiding by the terms of state hemp rules like they possibly could with marijuana.”  It’s the “public’s perception” of hemp that was affected, not hemp’s legal status.  “Hemp’s inclusion in the 2014 Farm Bill means its legal status can’t be usurped by an agency memo.”  Hemp entrepreneurs “believe the industry could even capitalize on Sessions’ antagonism to marijuana” because “it underscores hemp’s legal certainty.”

Now that Indiana is starting to open up to industrial hemp, it makes sense for Hemp, Inc. to build one of their Veteran Village Kins Community in that area as well.  “Our ‘Veteran Village Kins Communities’ is where we will not only grow some of our Hemp, it is a full-blown holistic solution to the multifaceted veteran problems in the USA. Our prototype model is in Arizona about 20 miles north of Kingman and 90 miles from Las Vegas, NV. It's our way of saying, ‘Thank You’ to our Veterans.”

Hemp, Inc. Announces Strategic Hemp Growing Partner "Veteran Village Kins Community Arizona, Inc." Completes Final Site Plan Blueprints

Hemp, Inc. has announced that its strategic growing partner, "Veteran Village Kins Community Arizona, Inc.," has completed its final site plan blueprints for its 500-acre site in Golden Valley, Arizona (20 miles north of Kingman, AZ and 90 minutes from Las Vegas, NV). The site plan was submitted to the Mohave County Building Department for final review. The Company is also in the final stages of completing the necessary infrastructure to support an off-grid, renewable, energy system. The remainder of the solar equipment is expected to arrive in the next few days, completing the site's solar power operation.

Dwight Jory, the Project Manager for the "Veteran Village Kins Community Arizona, Inc.," said, "We are very happy with the progress. Our Kins Community is really beginning to come together." In anticipation of planting to begin during the spring, 300 acres have been fenced, 16 overnight trailer park sites are under construction, and six 40x40-ft organic vegetable gardens are ready for seasonal planting, according to Jory. As for the 6 geodesic domes mentioned in an earlier press release, 1 is structurally complete with only the electrical and plumbing to be completed. The rest are on site awaiting final site plan approval. "We are now accepting volunteers who have expressed an interest in helping to build the first Kins Community for our veterans," said Jory. Those interested in making the first hemp growing CBD-producing "Veteran Village Kins Community" become a reality should contact Ms. Sandra Williams via email (swilliams@hempinc.com).

One thousand trees, on 36 of the 500-acres, have also been planted, with an additional 1,000 trees on order. The "Veteran Village Kins Community" site plan also includes a 100,000 square foot GMP compliant, central processing plant, CBD testing laboratory, and various health and wellness centers to support veterans who may have psychological, emotional or health issues.

Hemp, Inc. and "Veteran Village Kins Community Arizona, Inc." began development on the "Veteran-Village Kins Community in Arizona" approximately 6 years ago. Kins Communities are designed to grow hemp and produce cannabidiol (CBD) products to benefit veterans and to generate revenue for Hemp, Inc., the Veteran Village, and the individuals living on the land. Each 2.5-acre lot is designed to be self-sustainable, with 1 acre allocated to grow hemp and other areas for an organic garden, natural bee-hives, a living fence, a pond, a family tree and other elements that make up a "Kins Domain."

To learn more of what a Kins Domain is, click here. Volunteers who want to help build America's first "Veteran Village Kins Community" can contact Ms. Sandra Williams via email (swilliams@hempinc.com).

"As Hemp, Inc. positions itself on the forefront of America's industrial hemp revolution, we see our partnership with 'Veteran Village Kins Community Arizona, Inc.' being paramount in supporting the small family farm movement that we are confident will reshape the American landscape," said Perlowin. "As we work toward getting our eco-village up and running in Arizona, we are also aggressively scouting strategic locations in other states including North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia. Nearly 19,000 People Died Waiting For Social Security Disability Benefits In Two Years

Belleville, Illinois, Feb. 01, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Social Security Administration (SSA) reports that during 2016 and 2017, the number of people who died while waiting to learn if they will receive their Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits rose to 18,701, according to True Help, a division of Allsup, the nation’s premier disability representation company.

These deaths reflect the stark state of affairs of the Social Security Disability Insurance program. At the close of 2017, more than 1 million former workers remained stuck in a 605-day average hearing-decision backlog, waiting to learn whether they would be eligible for benefits. In some cities and states, wait times were closer to 800 days.

“Forcing individuals with disabilities to wait years for the benefits they’ve earned is completely unacceptable,” said Steve Perrigo, vice president of Allsup. “And for the nearly 19,000 people who died waiting for their hearing, this represented the final broken promise.”

According to the SSA, this backlog is unlikely to abate before 2022, despite additional funding, and its hiring additional staff and judges assigned to these cases. Additionally, a recent report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office declared SSA’s Compassionate Allowance program needed improvements to ensure individuals with the most severe disabilities obtain benefits in a timely manner. This program is designed to fast-track claimants with serious conditions, including certain cancers, through the disability benefits application process.

One way individuals can avoid getting mired in the disability backlog is to apply for disability benefits with help from a knowledgeable representative, Perrigo explained. The GAO also recently reported that claimants with a representative were approved at nearly 3 times the rates as those without a representative. Allsup has helped more than 275,000 people receive their SSDI benefits.

With the online tool, empower by Allsup®, individuals can receive an SSDI eligibility assessment, Social Security disability application support and return-to-work guidance. Allsup has a 50 percent higher success rate for its customers at the application level, compared to the national average of 33 percent.

Revolutionary live game show app gives AmVets a channel to share their patriotic message

TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) February 01, 2018

Revolutionary live game show app Super Squares™ has agreed to air a newly produced #PleaseStand advertisement by the AMVETS organization this Sunday during the Big Game. Super Squares™ offered to provide a video platform for the veterans service organization to reach football fans with their message, after a print version was rejected as having been deemed too “political.”

“Shut out of the Big Game, AMVETS can, through Super Squares™, send its message of patriotism and civic engagement beyond the TV screen, to reach its audience directly,” said React founder Frank Maggio. “While we understand that the NFL has rights to select its advertising partners and messages, we’re equally honored to live in a country where organizations like AMVETS have the freedom to choose other mass media outlets to get their respectful apolitical message out. It is powerfully simple and inclusive.”

AMVETS recently submitted a print version of the #PleaseStand ad for inclusion in the official game program for Sunday’s game, but was turned down because it “could be considered by some as a political statement.”

In response, AMVETS produced an expanded video version of the campaign that features AMVETS commander Marion Polk, and then turned to Tampa Bay-based Super Squares™ as a digital advertising partner to “air” the ad.

The commercial will be showcased during the Big Game halftime, within the Super Squares™ live, mobile quiz show. The patented game show technology delivers ads to attentive fans, and ensures measured engagement, by quizzing viewers about the ads’ messages. “Advertising is always treated as content inside of Super Squares™, and players appreciate and respect advertisers, who reward them for their attention.”

To download the app and learn more, visit http://SuperSquares.com, or directly from the Google Play Store at https://Q.cr/droid_1, and the App Store at http://www.Q.cr/SS_iOS_1.

Super Squares™ is a free-to-play live game show app based on the popular pen-and-paper squares game. The game runs live during breaks in football games, and players answer questions about the football game as well as in-app advertisements. Correct responses earn “Super Squares,” making players in the inaugural Tampa Bay market eligible to earn real prizes, including cash, Domino’s® pizza, and a new Nissan Altima.®

PSEG Long Island executive and General in the Army Reserves, Brian Miller is appointed to Nassau County veterans council on behalf of the Museum of American Armor

(PRWEB) February 02, 2018

The Museum of American Armor at Old Bethpage Village Restoration has announced that Brian E. Miller, Director of Procurement for PSEG Long Island, has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency as a representative of the Museum. Mr. Miller is currently a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army Reserve assigned to the 412th Theater Engineer Command in Vicksburg MS.

The announcement was made at the Museum of American Armor during recent ceremonies that honored U.S. District Court Judge Leonard Wexler and New York Assemblyman Charles Lavine.

Nassau County Executive Lauren Curran said, “General Miller best exemplifies the dedication, discipline and expertise of our American military. It should come as no surprise that he plays a crucial role at PSEG Long Island while ensuring the Army Reserve is capable of meeting every challenge in very difficult parts of the world.”

Mr. Ralph Esposito, Director of the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency, stated, “We are delighted that the armor museum now has a representative on our advisory board whose experience exemplifies how those with extraordinary military training have successfully brought their credentials to their civilian careers.

Serving a large and dynamic community
Mr. Miller said, “I am honored to be selected by the museum and the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency to serve on the Advisory Board. The veterans community has been a large, vibrant and dynamic part of the county, literally, since its return from World War II, and the role of the agency has been to assist those men and women who have worn the uniform in the service of our country. I look forward to contributing in whatever manner it believes will best strengthen and expand that role.”

During his military career, Brigadier General Miller has been responsible for the training, operations, and welfare of a Brigade with more than 2,400 soldiers in nine northeastern states that provides mobility, maneuver, and security support to larger division and corps formations. He is trained to provide on-call forces to support chemical, nuclear, and search and rescue disaster response operations as part of Northern Command’s support for FEMA and other civilian agencies. He has also prepared and sent units overseas into hostile areas to provide engineering support for different geographic combatant commands.

During a recent tour on active duty he was Branch Chief and Senior Advisor to the Combined Security Transition Command in Afghanistan. In that theater of operations he led three teams in Kabul that advised Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense’s (MOD) Construction & Property Management Department (CPMD) responsible for all Afghanistan National Army (ANA) facilities.

A record of service and innovation
As a Captain, the PSEG Long Island executive served in Germany and Bosnia, where, in support of the peace accords that ended the bloodshed in that embattled Balkan country, he planned and coordinated the construction of the first bridge over the Sava River into Bosnia in the face of severe flooding, resulting in the longest float bridge built by the US. Army since World War II. He would go on to coordinate some 100 engineers projects for a combat engineer brigade of 2700 engineers deployed in Bosnia.

Mr. Miller is a recipient of the Bronze Star. He also received the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge, and Parachutist's Badge.

He earned an M.B.A from Harvard Business School, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University and a B.S.E., from Duke University.

President of the Museum of American Armor, Lawrence Kadish, stated, “Mr. Miller represents the finest traditions of the American military. We are proud to have him as the museum’s representative on the Advisory Council to the Veterans Service Agency.”

The Museum of American Armor at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, 1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage, is a living tribute to every American who has worn the uniform and those who continue to defend our nation today. Its collection includes World War II tanks, artillery, armored cars and weapons that broke the back of the Axis powers over seventy years ago.

It is open Wednesday through Sunday, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Donations are $12 for adults; $8 for children 5 - 12 (under 5 admitted free); $8 for seniors, volunteer firefighters and veterans. Admission provides visitors with access to both the armor museum and the adjacent Old Bethpage Village Restoration. More information at http://www.museumofamericanarmor.org and on Facebook. Extreme Energy Solutions partners with the rising star in auto racing, Tony Mrakovich, and Fast Track Racing to make a driver/team/sponsor debut run in ARCA’s Lucas Oil 200 Driven by General Tire at the Daytona International Speedway.

HARRISBURG, N.C. (PRWEB) February 02, 2018

Extreme Energy Solutions announces its partnership alliance with Tony Mrakovich, driver from Elizabethtown, PA, and Fast Track Racing, under the leadership of Andy Hillenburg, who are joining forces to make a run in this year’s ARCA Lucas Oil 200, Driven by General Tire at the Daytona International Speedway, February 10, 2018.

When it comes to national exposure to potential consumers, Extreme Energy Solutions, Inc. is new to the stage; however, Extreme Energy Solutions is no stranger to the racing community overall. For the last three years, Extreme Energy Solutions, Inc. has been involved in bringing its product lines to market via motorsports marketing, mainly in the Northeast, as it has supported local/regional teams that compete on dirt tracks.

This is not the first time the green tech company has partnered with Tony Mrakovich. Extreme Energy Solutions invited Mrakovich to pilot one of their open wheel Sportsman Modified entries at the famed Eastern States Weekend racing event, held October 20th, 2017, at the Orange County Fair Speedway located in Middletown, NY.

“I enjoyed being able to drive for Extreme Energy Solutions alongside their other drivers–Tommy Vigh Jr, Jeff Heotzler, Roddy Watts, Connor Otten, and Keith Johannessen. They were all very helpful in my first ever run at the track they call The Hard Clay,” shared Tony Mrakovich, “even with the tough breaks of equipment failure, the team and crew worked their hardest to get me into another car for the event, which resulted in a push in the Consi.”

“We find Tony to be a great competitor with many talents on and off the track. We are honored that he will be representing us as a Brand Ambassador for Extreme Energy Solutions, and as a driver in competitive events,” added Samuel K. Burlum, CEO/President of Extreme Energy Solutions, “we look forward to working with Tony at this year’s ARCA Daytona run, and in the near future.”

Tony Mrakovich has had an impressive career, which began at the age of eight years old, putting Mrakovich behind the wheel of go-carts and then to Legends in the Mid-Atlantic region. Mrakovich made his ARCA debut and his Open Wheel Sportsman Modified debut in 2017.

Mrakovich will be representing Extreme Energy Solutions automotive green technology, the SMART Emissions Reducer, in which both the company and product will be advertised on Fast Track’s entry driven by Mrakovich. Other supporters of Mrakovich’s ARCA Daytona bid include Mendia Studios (video production and marketing) and Project Help (a non-profit 501c3 which aims to assist homeless and displaced Veterans). Both entities are located in Wantage, New Jersey.

Fast Track Racing and Mrakovich have also had history together. In 2017, the team and sponsor have partnered to run a few races, including at Pocono, where Mrakovich finished 15th in that contest. Fast Track is led by Andy Hillenburg, who has a track record of being a fierce competitor.

Hillenburg has won ARCA Daytona twice (1995 and 1997); and holds an ARCA Championship on his resume. Hillenburg has also competed as a driver in five divisions of NASCAR. Hillenburg, now team owner, has had an impressive history in and around the sport including contributions on film.

“After working with Tony last year, Fast Track and I look forward to working with Tony in 2018. We would welcome the opportunity to put Tony behind the wheel of our equipment and would like to do all we can to support his efforts. He is very talented and is the type of young driver a team can expect to win a few races with, and that is what we are going to try to do,” commented Hillenburg.

Extreme Energy Solutions looks to strengthen its relationship with Mrackovich and the sport of racing. In the past the company has found benefit of motorsports marketing and being involved in the sport on a regional level. Extreme Energy Solutions has marketed its product lines of Extreme Kleaner, H2O Energy Flow, and Extreme Xtra Fuel Treatments via the racing community, which has resulted in the partnering of additional retailers which now offer these products to consumers across the nation, in over 500 selected retailer locations.

In addition, Extreme Energy Solutions has utilized the venue of racing as a research and development spring board in testing and bringing to market its flagship technology, the SMART Emissions Reducer, which was designed to aid vehicle engines in reducing harmful toxic vehicle emissions while providing the additional benefit of increased engine efficiency. The technology was tested in a number of venues through a series of on-road pilot programs and in third party labs including Roush Industries, in Lavonia, Michigan.

“It is our goal to share awareness of the SMART Emissions Reducer’s capabilities to auto and engine manufacturers, commercial fleets, and service centers, as a viable alternative in addressing both gasoline and diesel powered engine emissions. Racing has provided us an outlet to create brand awareness not only to car and engine manufacturers, but also to the consumer, that seeks out to support their driver by way of purchasing from vehicle manufacturers that supports the fan’s favorite driver,” furthered Burlum

This year’s contest is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 10, 2018; at 4:45pm, televised on FS1. Reported by PRWeb 12 hours ago.
