Store incorporates the latest in safety and wellness technology for today’s worker
FORT WORTH, Texas (PRWEB) September 17, 2018
Coleman McDonald, CEO of Work Wear Safety Shoes announced the opening of a new flagship store at 1304 Inwood Road in Dallas Texas. “This store will incorporate the latest technology to improve the customer experience,” said Coleman. “It is not only a leap forward for us as a company, but with our new electronic voucher technology launching this Fall, it will be a giant leap for the entire industry.”
“We want to be a disruptor in the safety shoe business,” shared Matthew Hudson, Chief Experience Officer. “This is an industry that has ignored the customer experience and treated footwear like PPE. We want to change that. For example, our new store features a test site with 10 different work floor sections for the customer to “test drive” their new work shoes or boots on the surfaces they actually work on. Plus, we have a Fit Center where we can scan our customer’s feet to see how they distribute their weight and customize their fit and help support wellness at work with the right sock and insole.”
“The right fit, sock and insole can increase work productivity by as much as 20%,” said Coleman. “And a day not worked is a day not paid so we are laser-focused on making sure our customers are getting the right fit.”
The store features over 60 brands from makers like Keen, Wolverine, Justin, Tony Lama, Bates, Merrell and Hytest. And over 300 different styles of safety shoes and boots in stock. In addition, a Gear room offers options for safety gear like fire retardant apparel, hard hats, and ANSI work gloves.
Work Wear Safety Shoes donates a portion of its sales every month to Hire Heroes USA - the leading national nonprofit, veteran service organization specifically targeting the issues of unemployment and underemployment among veterans. Christopher Plamp, the CEO of Hire Heroes USA will be onsite at the official ribbon cutting of the store and serve as the guest speaker.
The ribbon cutting is at 4:30pm on Thursday September 20 2018.

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia, Sept. 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- *Ucore Rare Metals, Inc. *(TSXV:UCU) (OTCQX:UURAF) (“Ucore” or the “Company”) applauds Congress for including significant funding for further research and development of domestic rare earth resources in the Energy and Water, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, 2019.The bill comprises $727 million for Fossil Energy Research and Development, which includes the beneficiation and separation of rare earth element (REE) resources from coal processing byproducts. Improved processing of coal byproducts promises a significant prospective source of domestic REE for commercial-scale operations, reducing the current dependency of U.S. companies on China for rare earth element needs. The bill has substantial developmental implications for the State of Kentucky, and has been championed by Senator Mitch McConnell and allies (see: http://www.bereaonline.com/2018/09/senator-mcconnell-secures-critical-funding-for-kentucky-in-senate-passed-conference-report/)
“Ucore is aggressively pursuing the development of technologies that will beneficiate existing, underutilized resources such as coal ash to produce high-value rare earth elements for U.S. commercial use,” said Ucore President and CEO Jim McKenzie. “We applaud the efforts of Senator McConnell in securing funding for these and other promising technologies.”
Ucore has recently teamed with Kentucky River Properties LLC to develop a commercial-scale rare earths separation plant in eastern Kentucky near the Coal Fields Industrial Park (see Ucore press releases dated March 7 and April 9, 2018).
“We’re developing our coal refinement capabilities in order to access the vast quantities of rare earth elements contained in the coal ash of Kentucky and West Virginia,” said Mike Schrider, COO of Ucore. “It is therefore extremely helpful for the government to recognize this potential and encourage further innovations and development in rare earth beneficiation and separation.”
The bill has been passed by both the House and the Senate and awaits signature by the White House.
Ucore Rare Metals is a development-phase company focused on rare metals resources, extraction and beneficiation technologies with near term potential for production, growth and scalability. On March 3, 2015, Ucore announced the development of a joint venture with IBC for the deployment of Molecular Recognition Technology for REE and multi-metallic tailings processing applications in North America and associated world markets.

HAMPTON, Va., Sept. 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MacAulay-Brown, Inc. (MacB), an Alion company, announced today that it has developed a Resilient Command, Control, and Communications Integrated Solution (RC3IS™) for use by customers and coalition partners in the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. The RC3IS is an ideal solution for coalition partners implementing systems and capabilities developed in the U.S. so foreign countries can perform air operations organically, and fight side-by-side with U.S. forces.MacB’s technical team leveraged years of experience in Air Battle Management and Air Operations to achieve significant reductions in the size, power, weight and cube of the RC3IS for testing and customer demonstrations. Senior engineers developed an advanced architectural framework that integrated best Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) components, and re-hosted them into a single suite. The result is a fully interoperable solution with current U.S. Air Operations Certification (AOC) applications, hosted in a half rack server composed of agnostic hardware and software. Current configuration is for 120 users, but the solution is scalable to grow to triple that capacity.
“Numerous demonstrations to government representatives from the FMS program have enabled us to fully optimize the functionality of the RC3IS,” said Ricky Carter, Vice President of MacB’s Strategic Missions Division. “Our engineering and integration efforts exceed the requirements for AOC modernization plans for Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, resulting in MacB being well-positioned as the program of record to deliver next generation technologies for our coalition partners.”

Bolstering aviation and aerospace workforce capacity is the goal of a new partnership between Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Airbus at the Flight Works Alabama facility in Mobile.
MOBILE, Ala. (PRWEB) September 17, 2018
Under an unprecedented and far-reaching partnership agreement with Airbus, Embry-Riddle will offer its award-winning educational programs at Flight Works Alabama – a major new aviation experience center designed to build workforce capacity across the aviation and aerospace fields.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University leadership last week joined Airbus executives, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, and city and county officials in Mobile, Ala., to break ground for Flight Works Alabama, which will house the latest Embry-Riddle Worldwide Campus.
Promoting career advancement and upward mobility for Airbus employees and other Mobile-area professionals as well as first-time college students and high school students engaged in a dual-enrollment program will be the focus of Embry-Riddle’s campus at Flight Works Alabama. The new campus will offer targeted Associate’s, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs, high school dual-enrollment opportunities, highly specialized training and continuing education.
Flight Works Alabama, an 18,000-square-foot educational and experience facility, has a goal to “bolster Alabama’s workforce development efforts and inspire young people to pursue careers in aerospace,” Airbus explained in its official announcement on the venture.
Joining Gov. Ivey and Airbus leadership for the ground-breaking ceremony were Embry-Riddle President Dr. P. Barry Butler, Embry-Riddle Worldwide Chancellor Dr. John R. Watret and Worldwide’s Vice Chancellor for Campus Operations William Muldoon, among others.
“We are honored and excited to partner with Airbus, a premier international leader in aerospace, on this important new venture,” Dr. Butler said. “As a global leader in online education, Embry-Riddle has the stellar curriculum and know-how to support the workforce goals of Airbus and the State of Alabama, and to help increase interest in aviation and aerospace among young people more broadly.”
Worldwide Chancellor Watret said: “Through our unique partnership with Airbus, Embry-Riddle will offer degree programs and training programs specifically tailored to the Airbus mission and workforce needs. We will also provide graduate career resources to identify highly skilled employees for the local, national and international aviation and aerospace workforce, and we will work to ignite young people’s interest in careers that will benefit them and their communities.”
Jeff Knittel, Airbus Americas Chairman and CEO said at the ceremony, “Success for Airbus, and any company, means we can’t just look at what we’re doing now; we need to look at what we need later – whether it be next year, next decade, or the next five decades. What Airbus and other companies in our industry need to be successful in the future is a skilled, knowledgeable workforce that is ready for that future. Flight Works will help us create that workforce in a fun, creative way.”
Worldwide Vice Chancellor Muldoon noted that “starting at Fort Ruckert in 1970, Alabama is at the core of Embry-Riddle Worldwide’s heritage. Today, at Flight Works Alabama, we are poised to deliver on our institutional mission in an unprecedented way for all of the people of Mobile. Embry-Riddle is ready. Airbus is ready. Mobile is ready. My team and I look forward to getting to work.”
An Elite Group of Partners
Embry-Riddle was selected as one of nine education partners to support Flight Works Alabama, which also involves leading industry and community sponsors.
Other participating schools are Auburn University, Bishop State Community College, Coastal Alabama Community College, Troy University, Tuskegee University, University of South Alabama, University of Alabama and University of West Alabama. Industry and community sponsors for the project so far include the Airbus Foundation, Alabama Power Foundation, Conde Systems, the Mobile County Commission, Mott MacDonald, Hoar Program Management, Johnson Controls, Mech-Net, Pratt & Whitney, Safran and Snap-On.
“Aerospace is a premier industry, filled with innovative developments and high demand jobs, which are sought after by every state,” Gov. Ivey said at the ceremony on Wednesday. “Flight Works Alabama will become a hub to explore the opportunities of this industry. As our state continues to grow this sector, we must show Alabamians all that the aerospace industry can offer them, today and in the years ahead.”
Embry-Riddle Worldwide has extensive experience in reaching out to youth. For example, in concert with Women in Aviation International, the university will offer a massive open online course, or MOOC, Oct. 8-23, specifically for learners ages 8 to 12, entitled “Aviation is Your Future.”
Earlier this year Embry-Riddle’s Worldwide Campus was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as No. 2 in Best Online Bachelor’s Programs – the only private, not-for-profit institute out of 346 universities nationwide ranked in the Top 5. Since 2014, Embry-Riddle Worldwide has ranked in the top five of the annual list, including being named No. 1 for the past two years.
The Worldwide Campus was once again named the top school in the country in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans and its online graduate business program (excluding MBA) was also named one of the top programs in the nation.

Military AutoSource (MAS) in partnership with Petty’s Garage will auction off a 750 Horsepower Warrior Edition Ford F-150 truck with all the proceeds from the auction block going to Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA).
WOODBURY, N.Y. (PRWEB) September 17, 2018
Military AutoSource (MAS) in partnership with Petty’s Garage will auction off a Warrior Edition Ford F-150 truck to benefit Paralyzed Veterans of America. World renowned car auction house, Barrett-Jackson, will auction the truck on Thursday, September 27 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Petty’s Garage Warrior Edition Ford F-150 is specifically built and designed in honor of our nation’s heroes. This custom truck is a premier F-150 built with a 750 horsepower supercharger, features 33-inch all-terrain tires, custom paint, interior, electric running boards and more. This F-150 is branded with Petty’s Garage Warrior grill, hood, windshield banner and is finished with a dash badge and Richard Petty’s authentic autograph. This one-of-a-kind truck is provided by Petty’s Garage and MAS, a subsidiary of Overseas Military Sales Corporation (OMSC).
MAS partners with Petty’s Garage to craft vehicles that are not only unique, but also reflect the spirit of leadership and excellence that exemplify our military. “We remain committed to providing access, value, and benefits to those who serve, and the Warrior program is an extension of this mission. Of course, our commitment to the military community extends beyond our vehicle buying program and this auction demonstrates that commitment,” said Stephen Frisch, Senior Vice President, Overseas Military Sales Group.
All the proceeds from the auction block will benefit and send critical funds to the Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA). PVA, has been advocating for the needs of veterans with spinal cord injury or disease since 1946. The organization provides free programs and services such as adaptive sporting opportunities, job placement, VA benefits assistance and more, all free of charge to any veteran. The Petty family have been longtime supporters of the efforts of Paralyzed Veterans to support our nation’s veterans following catastrophic injury.
“PVA is really the leader for our paralyzed veterans,” said Richard Petty. “Each year we try to do more and more to help their efforts. We’ve been to Barrett-Jackson in the past before, but this time we’re going to bring one of our custom F-150 Warrior Edition trucks. These trucks are really limited and unique in how we build them. Somebody is going to have a lot of fun owning it and we hope we can raise a lot of money for the PVA.”
“Year after year, Richard Petty has shown tremendous support for our members, our organization and all veterans,” said David Zurfluh, a disabled Air Force veteran, and national president of Paralyzed Veterans of America. We’re grateful for his support and honored to be the beneficiary of the proceeds from this auction.”

Fast-growing technology, strategy, and design consulting firm announces new CEO; co-founder to lead next growth phase
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (PRWEB) September 17, 2018
Levvel, a leading and rapidly growing technology, strategy, and design development consulting firm, is pleased to announce a new CEO—co-founder Chris Hart—and other organizational changes as it pivots from early-stage to maturing business phase.
Hart, formerly Chief Technology Officer of Levvel, now leads the company he founded five years ago with former CEO John Espey, who remains a significant investor. Operating partner and co-founder Matt Ernst remains on the leadership team and continues to be involved in the management of the company.
“I look forward to focusing on our operations, being deliberate about our opportunities for future growth, and, most of all, continuing to help our clients transform their businesses using technology,” Hart said. “We have an incredible platform with enormous potential to build upon. We were fortunate to have John at the helm when we started this company to lead us through Levvel's explosive growth in the first five years of our business."
Ernst, an experienced business operator, is now more involved in Levvel’s day-to-day activities and will work with Hart to prepare the company for its next stage of growth. As Levvel’s leaders, they will focus on operational excellence within each of Levvel’s major operating regions.
These organizational changes come with an eye toward leading Levvel into its next phase of growth and beyond. The changes also come on the heels of accolades from Inc. Magazine, which named Levvel one of the nation’s 500 fastest-growing private companies in 2018 and one of the best places to work.
"I am immensely proud of the team at Levvel and the A-list clients we work with. Leading the company through the first five years of explosive growth was incredibly rewarding,” said Espey. “I know that Chris, Matt, and the entire team are going to continue Levvel's growth trajectory and build a dominant consulting firm.”
Levvel’s quick ascent is largely owed to its diverse offering of digital transformation services that combine strategic consulting, technical execution, and digital native design. The company’s backbone lies in its deep industry expertise across a variety of industries, including banking, healthcare, digital media, retail, capital markets, and insurance.
Levvel, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, helps clients transform their business with strategic consulting and technical execution services. Inc. Magazine in 2018 named Levvel one of the year’s 500 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. and one of the nation’s best places to work.

New program honors VA homebuyers
DALLAS (PRWEB) September 17, 2018
The Mike Clover Group at Homewood Mortgage has just announced that they’ll be giving extra help to the next 15 veterans and active duty members of the military who come to them for VA loans in Texas.
While many lenders shy away from VA home mortgage loans, the Mike Clover Group welcomes them. Many of the group’s team members are veterans, and all believe that we owe a debt of gratitude to those who sacrifice to keep America safe.
With this in mind, the Mike Clover Group will pay the appraisal fees – about $425 – and pay 1% of buyer closing costs for the next fifteen VA loans they process for a home purchase anywhere in Texas.
Mike Clover says that are no better rates than those for VA loans in Texas and Florida. He also says that contrary to what some believe, VA loans are no more difficult to process than a conventional home loan Reported by PRWeb 4 hours ago.

Growing accounting automation company exits Series B funding round
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 18, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Beanworks, an accounts payable (AP) automation company is charting a path of leadership in the fintech industry by championing a culture of diversity and inclusion. They are pleased to announce the closing of a $10.1 million Series B funding round.Beanworks CEO, Catherine Dahl, credits her company’s inclusive culture as a key driving force behind Beanworks’ growth. “We began with two female and two male co-founders in 2012 because we knew strategically companies that focus on gender diversity perform better. Studies repeatedly show that diversity and inclusion increase workplace satisfaction, productivity, retention, and overall revenue. Our approach includes gender representation, diversified recruitment strategies, and bias free HR practices. In addition to being a part of our core values, these initiatives give us a strategic advantage over companies that do little more than pay lip service to this vital concept.”
As evidence for this strategy, the company recently closed a CAD $10.1 million (USD $7.7 M) Series B funding round led by FINTOP Capital, alongside BDC Capital’s Women in Technology Venture Fund which only invests in best-in-class, women-led technology companies. The round was further supported by existing and new private investors.
In line with the company’s focus on gender diversity, Beanworks is also pleased to welcome Michelle Scarborough, Managing Director, Strategic Investments and Women in Technology Venture Fund at BDC Capital, and Joe Maxwell, Managing Partner of FINTOP, to its Board of Directors. Maxwell brings a partnership that will accelerate the company’s momentum and Scarborough brings expertise in scaling global businesses and diversity.
"Beanworks solves the age-old problem of throwing people up against technology roadblocks,” said Maxwell. “People don’t want to manually enter invoice data or be bound to labor-intensive, manual processes when they know there is a better way. We believe the team at Beanworks is positioned to meet a growing demand for scaling companies and I am excited to join the Board."
The $10.1 million in funding comes a year after Beanworks began a partnership with Sage Software as its exclusive AP automation provider. With AP automation ranked as the top user-requested add-on by Sage’s user base, the launch of Sage AP Automation (a white labelled version of Beanworks) has gained rapid traction amongst Sage users by providing robust accounting workflows, automating data entry and giving newfound visibility into their businesses’ financials.
Mid-market accounting teams choose Beanworks as their essential accounting tool to access the analytics and insights that empower them to make educated, strategic business decisions. Beanworks will use the recent investment to further enhance its platform, release an expense module and expand into new global markets.
