MaidPro has joined forces with The Hometown Hero Project to make it easier for veterans to become business owners.

BOSTON (PRWEB) September 20, 2018

MaidPro has joined forces with The Hometown Hero Project to make it easier for veterans to become business owners. Through its Veteran Discount Program, MaidPro now offers veterans discounted franchise packages valued at $15,000.

The goal of the program is to make it easier than ever for veterans to join the MaidPro family and to own and operate their own home cleaning franchise.

The veteran discount package includes:· a $3000 discount on the initial franchise fee;
· a $100 invoice credit each month for the life of the 10-year agreement;
· direct financing or financial assistance enabling veterans to get started with little up-front capital.

“The costs for purchasing our franchise are very low in comparison to other franchise start-up costs, and this discount program now makes purchasing a MaidPro franchise even more affordable for our service men and women,” said CEO Mark Kushinsky.

MaidPro was recently one of only 80 franchise companies named on Franchise Business Review’s elite list of Top Low-Cost Franchises. MaidPro has also been named a Top Franchise for Veterans for 2018.

“We’re very honored to be able to show our appreciation to our veterans by giving them substantial discounts to business ownership,” Kushinsky said. “We’re also thrilled to be able to partner with an organization like The Hometown Hero Project that does so much to give back to our veterans.”

The Hometown Hero Project connects active and retired military, police officers, firefighters, first responders and teachers with organizations and businesses that provide them with resources and services.

Lone Star Analysis and it Director of Prescriptive Analytics Tom Abraham received the Above and Beyond Award and the Service Member Patriot Award, respectively, from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

DALLAS (PRWEB) September 20, 2018

Yesterday, Lone Star Analysis, a Dallas-based specialist in leading-edge predictive and prescriptive analytics solutions, and its Director of Prescriptive Analytics Tom Abraham received the Above and Beyond Award and the Service Member Patriot Award, respectively, from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

Lone Star has a long history of working with government and military agencies, and understands the need to be committed to those who serve. That commitment showed true with Lone Star Analyst Lt. Weston Woerner, the nominator. Abraham and Lone Star received their respective awards due to their efforts supporting Woerner as he prepares to become an Apache Longbow pilot.

“Over the past five years, around five percent of our employees have been reservists and another 20 to 25 percent are veterans,” said Steve Roemerman, CEO, Lone Star Analysis. “The difference they make at Lone Star is only outdone by their contributions to our country and its freedom. Supporting Weston throughout his journey has been extremely rewarding, and we look forward to watching him succeed from afar. We’re truly honored to receive his and ESGR’s recognition for our support.”

The Patriot Award, given to Abraham, recognizes individual supervisors for support provided directly to service members or their families. This often translates to supervisors being flexible with and supportive of reserve members through various means including flexible scheduling, time around deployment, allowing leave of absences and helping assist the service member’s family.

The Above and Beyond Award, given to Lone Star, is an award that is eligible to companies who have had supervisors receive the Patriot Award. It is given in limited quantities to employers who have exceeded the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by providing their National Guard and Army Reserve employees with extra benefits such as recuperation of pay to offset lost wages, expanded health benefits and other additional support beyond the scope of the act.

ESGR, a Department of Defense program that distributes these awards, was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers, and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment. ESGR helps foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.

Atheist Group Looking Foolish – OpEd

$
0

Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) is the most unhinged atheist organization in the nation. They are looking increasingly foolish, taking on cases that undermine their credibility.

Taylor County, Texas has drawn the ire of FFRF. Why? Among other things, employees in municipal buildings have been known to have crosses on their desks. Another worker had the nerve to have a painting with a Bible verse on his desk. “God Bless America” signs were also found, including one on the door of the Veterans’ Service Office.

FFRF sees all Christian symbols as analogous to swastikas. That’s just how far gone they are. Ironically, their zeal in scrubbing the public sector free of every vestige of Christianity is reminiscent of Nazism. Freedom of religion, and freedom of speech, are twin liberties found objectionable by fascists in every nation.

Lawyers for Taylor County had to remind FFRF that the Supreme Court has said many times that historical phrases such as “God Bless America” do not violate the Constitution. Neither do religious symbols owned and worn by citizens as part of their apparel: Americans do not lose their rights by stepping inside a government facility.

Similarly, just last week, the Cullman County School Board in Alabama voted unanimously to add “In God We Trust” to school displays. It is, of course, our national motto, but to FFRF that doesn’t count—it is still an obscenity. They said they were “considering the best legal options for this rash of legislation.”

We would encourage the leadership of FFRF to sue. That way they can drain their coffers in another losing effort.

Losing is one thing. Losing while looking foolish is quite another.

Allsup Offers SSDI Resources for Individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries During Awareness Month

Many people living with spinal cord injuries apply for disability benefits, receive much-needed income and access to assistance with returning to work

Belleville, Illinois, Sept. 20, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- September is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month and an important time to increase awareness of the resources available to those living with spinal cord injuries (SCIs), according to TrueHelp, a division of Allsup, the nation’s premier provider of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation. Allsup is joining organizations including the United Spinal Association to promote these resources.

Not only do spinal cord injuries pose challenges when it comes to everyday activities, but they can also impact financial security and the ability to work. If an SCI prevents an individual from working in any capacity and is expected to last for at least 12 months or is permanent, he or she may be eligible for Social Security disability benefits.

“Allsup has helped many individuals with SCI to get the disability benefits they deserve—and need to survive,” said Mike Stein, Allsup assistant vice president. “During this awareness month, and every day, we want people to know there are resources available to them and financial support they can access.”

It’s estimated there are between 250,000 and 350,000 Americans living with SCI. About 17,000 new cases develop each year, according to the United Spinal Association.

“Spinal cord injury may mean the end of one of life’s chapters, but many of our members are writing new chapters with courage, determination and hope,” said Bill Fertig, director, United Spinal Association Resource Center. “There are many resources available to help individuals to foster their internal strength and progress.”

Visit United Spinal’s website for a wealth of resources, including free online publications, peer support and answers to questions.

Although symptoms can vary greatly, many spinal cord injuries are the result of accidents—such as a fall or vehicle collision—rather than a pre-existing disease or condition. In fact, the leading cause of SCI are vehicle crashes. Most of these injuries lead to some loss of function, pain and numbness. These symptoms can be temporary or permanent, and some individuals experience a profound loss of function.

Allsup has helped more than 300,000 people to receive their SSDI benefits. The online tool empower by Allsup® combines an assessment for eligibility and Social Security disability application support, along with return to work guidance for those who may reach medical stability. Allsup has a 50% higher success rate at the application level compared to the national average.

Jet Airways pilots' 'slip-up' makes fliers bleed

$
0
0
The country's bleeding carriers are making fliers bleed now. More than 160 passengers of a Jet Airways plane that took off from here for Jaipur on Thursday morning started bleeding from the nose and ears because the pilots didn't flip on a switch that regulates in-flight pressure. The Boeing 737 had to turn around after half an hour and landed back in Mumbai at 7 am.

National aviation watchdog DGCA said the cockpit crew forgot to turn on the 'bleed' switch. Because of this, the cabin pressure onboard the jumbo jet dropped abnormally low, making at least 30 heads throb. The oxygen masks dropped in front of the passengers midair, but not before the mass bleeds.

Upon returning to Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, five of the sickly passengers were rushed to Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle, a nearby suburb, and were discharged later the same day. Most others were accommodated on alternative flights.

Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu ordered an inquiry which will be conducted by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau.

Until the probe concludes, the staff responsible for the goof-up have been taken off duty.

"The crew is being derostered," the ministry said.

It has also asked the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to submit a report on the blunder immediately.

While the incident did not result in grievous casualties, aviation veterans say the investigating agency should look into whether the airline's strained finances have stressed its pilots out. Flying expert Vikram Saxena said, "If the pilot forgot to put on the switch, it is basically a human error, and it could have been due to stress or poor training."

The Naresh Goyal-owned carrier is facing acute cash crunch. It posted back-to-back losses for two quarters this fiscal. The quarter ended March saw Jet's losses at Rs 1,036 crore, which jumped to Rs 1,300 crore in the subsequent quarter. Soon after, the carrier proposed salary cuts up to 25 per cent for staff, but had to defer the plan in the face of resistance from its pilots' union.

"Jet Airways Mumbai-to-Jaipur flight 9W 697 made an air turn back due to loss in cabin pressure. The B737 aircraft, with 166 guests and five crew, landed normally in Mumbai. All guests were deplaned safely and taken to the terminal. First aid was administered to few guests who complained of ear pain, bleeding nose etc. Jet Airways regrets the inconvenience caused to its guests," it said in a statement.

A pilot said on the condition of anonymity, "There are various standard operating practices that are crucial for cockpit crew to follow, and turning on the switch for maintaining cabin pressure is one of them. But the investigation will tell if the cockpit crew's absence of mind that led to the incident."

Airport operator Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) refrained from commenting on the incident.

About the passengers who were hospitalised, Dr Rajendra Patankar, chief operating officer at Nanavati, said, "All the five patients from the airport were evaluated by our ENT consultant. They suffered barotrauma, with bleeding from the nose and/or ears. They are hemodynamically stable now and are advised to avoid air travel for at least a week."

Many of the fliers took to microblogging site Twitter to share their mid-air ordeal. Amit Relan, who was onboard and witnessed the horror of mass bleeds, said, "The incident was scary and alarming, and has made me very uncomfortable today. We were given no clue mid-air as to what has happened. However, only after landing safely at the airport we were informed that the oxygen masks got deployed due to low pressure. (Sic)"

XPT Mad 2 Kilometers (M2K) Driver's Racing - Nanjing Stop, Round 2 Comes to A Successful Conclusion *A festive and trendsetting racing event and a party for the youth of Nanjing *

NANJING, China, Sept. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- XPT Mad 2 Kilometers (M2K) Driver's Racing held the last-day competition in Nanjing Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone on September 16. Through several rounds of fierce competition, Wang Jianfeng, from the SPC-LANDSAIL-SPORSKY RACING TEAM, became the winner of the professional 1.6 L Driver Cup, while his teammate Chen Daxing won the competition for the professional 2.0 L Driver Cup. In the street racing contests, Wu Fan (45.030 seconds), Yao Shengmo and Chen Cong were, respectively, the winners of Groups A, B and C. In addition, Dai Xiangsheng became the winner of XPT ES8 Driver's Racing when he clocked in at 52.634 seconds; Wang Qi, from the RZOIL DRS team, took home the honors of the Liqui Moly Drift Invitational; while a driver from abroad identified as Jean brought home the honors for the Street-drive Fixed Gear Competition.F3, recreational vehicles, drift cars and XPT ES8 come together on the Niushou Mountain track

Last weekend, with the backing of Jiangning Development Zone, Nanjing Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone and XPT, XPT Mad 2 Kilometers (M2K) Driver's Racing - Nanjing Stop successfully took place as scheduled in Nanjing Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone. On what is considered in the racing world as one of the most beautiful tracks, drivers, immersed in a racing atmosphere, not only were racers able to enjoy the thrill of racing but also made new friends and garnered new fans.

As a new event, M2K is unique in how it differs from conventional competitions, both in China and abroad. In addition to terms that are rarely uttered in the racing community, "street racing" and "one-on-one ", the organizer of Round 2 collaborated with Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone to transform the race into an event that will not be soon forgotten. The core action was moved from the trade and racing maintenance areas to near the track, the auditorium was placed immediately trackside, while a "guess the winner" feature taking place in real time was added, giving audiences an opportunity to have an "up close and personal" experience with the event.

In addition to traditional gas-guzzling race cars, several electric vehicles joined the competition. XPT, the title sponsor of this round, is a technology company offering intelligent solutions. Front and rear dual engines coupled with a storage system equipped by XPT ES8 formed the high-performance EDS electrified system and light-weight ESS storage system offered by XPT. XPT will take full advantage of its advanced technologies in the intelligent and electrified solution sectors to consistently support Chinese EV racing, as the firm continues in its efforts to become the leader in driving the development and adoption of electric vehicles.

With the second round having come to a close, the "1 to 1 street racing" event has become a unique feature of M2K. Combined with the simply designed yet challenging Niushou Mountain Track, M2K has attracted the attention of countless motor sports enthusiasts and received wide acclaim. Yet, racing is just one of the important components of M2K. Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone, the venue for the event, and M2K organizer Wasai hope to create a carnival targeting the youth segment. New events in this round, including the Liqui Moly Drift Invitational, XPT ES8 Driver's Racing, Street-drive Fixed Gear Competition, Ming Dynasty Guard of Honor and the promotional event for the soon to be released film Golden Job, resonated with the lifestyles of today's young adults. The lineup of events coincided with Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone's objective of further promoting the development of sports tourism, sports events and the sports industry. M2K is another important step taken by Niushou Mountain to promote the diversified and integrated development of "tourism plus culture", "tourism plus sports", "tourism plus healthcare" and "tourism plus research" as well as to accelerate the development of the locale from a relatively simple scenic spot to a comprehensive industrial park.

Niushou Mountain and M2K plan to add more popular and fresh elements to future editions of the event, transforming M2K into the "go-to" racing event for the youth demographic.

*Professional group: PK** with competitive spirit*

Compared to the rush in the opening round, everyone was obviously better prepared in Round 2. Faster racing, stronger lineup and more adequate spare parts supply made the 1 to 1 PK among professionals all the more exciting. The 10+ professional drivers included some newcomers as well as seasoned "veterans" who had participated in the opening round. Facing what, on the surface, appeared to be a very simple track, no one took anything for granted and the competition was fierce. Several collisions took place in the corner, bringing the audience to their feet on several occasions.

The results of the fierce competition led to Wang Jianfeng, Rao Long and Liu Hailin being hailed as the top three winners of the 1.6 L driver cup. Chen Daxing and the 109 Racing team's Deng Baowei came in as the top two receiving the 2.0 L driver cup. The SPC-LANDSAIL-SPORSKY RACING TEAM garnered the team cup.

*The street racing group: the ultimate challenge*

Compared to the 1 to 1 PK in the professional group, the street racing group more resembled an "every man for himself" free-for-all. Following the "real test", drivers who just came on board began to reacquaint themselves with the seemingly simple track. As they became more familiar with the track's makeup, they started clocking in faster lap times. Every time they finished, the drivers huddled and exchanged tips on how to improve, with an eye to picking up the pace in subsequent races. Yao Shengmo, the overall winner of the first round, met his biggest opponent Wu Fan in Round 2. Although they were not in the same group, both of them gave their upmost to win the championship.

*The Drift racing category / XPT ES8 Driver's Racing / Fixed Gear Racing *

As new categories were added the round, the Liqui Moly Drift Invitational, XPT ES8 Driver's Racing and the Street-drive Fixed Gear racing garnered much attention from the spectators.

Drift is one of the most popular motor sports. The spectators jumped to their feet and cheered as soon as they saw the white smoke exit from the exhaust pipes with engines roaring and tires screaming. One of the more popular EVs, the XPT ES8 is powered by XPT's leading intelligent electric power platform. XPT ES8 competed with gasoline-powered cars during this round, reflecting a contest between the contemporary and the future. One can sense the vigor and vitality of the young adults who attended the event when they cheered during the trendsetting fixed gear racing segment.

Wang Qi, from the RZOIL DRS team, won the Liqui Moly Drift Invitational and set the fastest lap, followed by runner-up Chen Wenqian and second runner-up Xia Changhao from Shanghai Drift Team (SDT). Dai Xiangsheng was the winner of the XPT ES8 Driver's Racing with Duan Yuqiang coming in second place and Lv Jiahai claiming the third spot. At the excitement-filled Street-drive Fixed Gear racing event, Li Dongda finished as the runner-up, as he became exhausted and fell to the ground before the end of the race. As a result, the foreign contestant Jean crossed the finish line first. Zhou Xing came in the third place. These young men demonstrate what it means to hold on to the end despite the difficulty, exemplifying the spirit of the sport.

Following the inaugural competition, the event operation team of M2K plans to review every detail of the event with Nanjing Niushou Mountain Cultural Tourism Zone with the aim of transforming M2K into a true car racing competition loved by all and one that promotes the culture of motor racing. The event will conclude on November 11, when M2K will be fully upgraded and even more exciting.
