National Nail has provided STINGER CN100 pneumatic cap nailing tools for classroom training in partnership with GAF Roofing Academy's "Hire A Hero" program for U.S. military veterans.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (PRWEB) November 21, 2018

National Nail has partnered with the GAF Roofing Academy’s “Hire A Hero” program to provide technical instruction to U.S. military veterans looking to become professional roofers. Launched nearly two years ago, the initiative has graduated more than 50 individuals with a 100% placement rate. As part of this effort, National Nail, a leading manufacturer of fastening tools for roofing underlayment and house wrap, has provided STINGER CN100 pneumatic cap nailing tools for classroom training use and has committed to presenting a CN100 to every student upon their graduation from the program.

“There are unlimited opportunities in the roofing industry,” says Kenneth Garcy, a GAF Roofing Academy Instructor and a former member of the U.S. Army Special Operations for 22 years. “Many start the program with absolutely no roofing experience and we teach them the skills they need to transition from the military. For some soldiers who have experienced severe traumatic events, this is an absolute life-changer. We have excellent relationships with contractors throughout the nation. So far, every person who has graduated the program has received an offer for a professional roofing job.”

Garcy adds, “The academy is grateful for dedicated partners like National Nail, who provide the necessary training tools to help our students get off to a fresh start as professional roofers with their own STINGER CN100 cap nailer.”

“The GAF Roofing Academy is such a worthwhile endeavor that we jumped on the chance to participate as soon as we learned about it,” explains W. Scott Baker, CEO, National Nail. “Many of our veterans have the essential skills and the passion to transition to civilian life and this program provides a focus and learning opportunity. What better way to thank them for their service.”

The academy was launched as part of GAF’s “Hire a Hero” campaign in partnership with ProTrain and includes four weeks of 144 hours of training taught six times per year. Presently taught at Joint Base Lewis McChord base, this is the only base in the nation that presently conducts this Career Skills Program, but they are working on expanding to Ft Bragg, NC. The course includes a comprehensive steep-slope roof training and introduction to commercial roofing, with hands-on hot air welding training emphasis; both are conducted on class training decks.

To date, National Nail has donated more than 50 STINGER CN100 pneumatic cap nailing tools to the GAF Roofing Academy. The CN100 is used by professional roofers nationwide due to its unmatched safety and speed, which reduces the time and labor needed to secure building envelopes. In addition to meeting or exceeding product warranties and codes, the CN100 weighs only 4.9lbs, shoots up to 5 nails per second, and has a tool-free depth adjustment. Stinger NailPac® provides 200 nails and caps per load which allows for reloading at the same time. One 2,000 count carton of NailPac® will cover approximately 25-30 square based on manufacturer’s required fastening pattern.

Makers Nutrition held an in-office food drive and donated to Island Harvest, exceeding last year's goal and helping those in the community facing tough times this Thanksgiving.

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (PRWEB) November 21, 2018

The holidays are a time to be grateful for what we have—especially for what we often take for granted. This year, Makers Nutrition, a one-stop dietary supplement provider, wanted to help those in the community facing tough times this Thanksgiving. Holding another in-office food drive to donate to Island Harvest, Makers Nutrition set a goal and far exceeded it.

“We are absolutely thrilled to give back to the community, especially during a time that is all about… giving!” said Christopher Zecha, Operations Manager at Makers Nutrition. “Since last year’s holiday food drive was such a success, we wanted to encourage our employees to give as much, if not more, than they did in 2017.

Around 182,000 people will go hungry on Long Island tonight. 72,980 of those will be children (communitysolidarity). “This is devastating news, but we are just happy Makers Nutrition is able to lower these numbers by feeding so many local families on the island. We are more than thrilled to help Island Harvest serve those in need,” said Mr. Zecha.

Congressman-elect Dan Crenshaw of Texas first came to national attention when his looks — especially the patch over his eye that he lost serving in Afghanistan — were mocked on "Saturday Night Live." The NBC show amended its rudeness by putting him on the show the next week and allowing him to make an earnest pitch to Americans to "never forget" the sacrifices veterans make.

Pentagon Says Current Cost For US Troops Sent To Border Is $72 Million

Pentagon Says Current Cost For US Troops Sent To Border Is $72 Million Watch VideoWe're now getting an idea of how much the U.S. military's border support mission is costing.

The Pentagon estimated Tuesday that the current price tag for troops recently sent to the U.S.-Mexico border is around $72 million.

It's the first time the Department of Defense has put a firm number on the mission since 5,900 troops were first deployed to support Customs and Border Protection. That move came as a caravan of migrants traveled north through Mexico.

President Donald Trump has said he could send up to 15,000 service members to the border, prompting analysts to predict that the final cost could end up being around $200 million.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis visited troops there last week, but said it was too early to give details about cost estimates.

Some veterans and Democratic lawmakers have criticized the deployments, calling them politically-motivated and a waste of military dollars.
