Winner Announced for the Charter College Veteran’s Day Photo Contest

Honoring her husband and his grandfather, Mairym Roman-Rosa wins Charter College’s Veteran’s Day Contest.

Anchorage, AK (PRWEB) December 06, 2013

The Charter College Veteran’s Day Contest asked, “Which active duty service member or veteran inspires you most?” In answer to that question, Mairym Roman-Rosa chose two heroes. She honored her husband, who is entering his 16th year of military service as a soldier and her husband’s grandfather, who is a veteran of the Korean War. In voting conducted through the Charter College Page on Facebook, Roman-Rosa was declared the winner and received the first place prize of an iPad.

With more than 50 submissions, the Charter College Veteran’s Day Contest was a huge success and a wonderful tribute to the men and women who sacrifice so much for their country and its citizens. Inspirational photos from students, alumni and staff of Charter College were submitted through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and votes were cast through the Charter College Page on Facebook. The military branches of the Air Force, Army, National Guard, Navy and Marines were all well-represented and honored.

“The Charter College community is very proud of the men and women who serve and this photo contest was a small way to bring attention to their great sacrifice,” said Brandi Anderson, Charter College Director of Marketing & Community Outreach.

Anderson added that the commitment of Charter College to veterans and active service members extends far beyond Veteran’s Day.

“We do all we can to make Charter College a welcoming environment to veterans, active duty service members and their families,” said Anderson. “We even have many veterans who work at Charter College as instructors, and our entire staff is trained to give service members the assistance and respect they deserve.”
